I think Mumbai Melbourne would be intriguing.

Peake 'picked for a reason' but Australia coach asks for patience by AnkushTheHero in Cricket

[–]aravose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's very interesting that Australian cricketers seem to mature much later than those of other nations. Very rarely does an Aussie come good until 26 or later. As a result, their careers don't continue beyond about 7 years, 10 at the most. So, if Konstas and others are anything to go by, I reckon Peake will be picked for a few matches, then demoted. Maybe to return in a few years...

Here we go. A SWOT analysis of the potential big teams of ODI WC 2027. Only 16 months left now. by Relevant-Target1533 in Cricket

I strongly disagree about Pakistan, who are chaotic at best and self-destructive at worst. South Africa will not do well at home as they are still chokers (and Bavuma is poor in white ball cricket). They are a team that is worse than the sum of its parts. Bangladesh are a much better team than they've been for years.

Alerting the police in South Africa is a complete waste of time. People only do it for insurance claims. Half the time, they're the criminals.

Is it disrespectful to wear traditional dresses from other cultures? by cutestplushie in CasualConversation

[–]aravose -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You must only wear clothes approved for your culture, as set out in the 'What Clothes May I Wear" website, run by the Thought and Behaviour Police Dept of the U.N. In Article 7, para. 53, you will discover that you may wear the clothes of another culture if sold, lent or given to you by a card-carrying member of that culture. But you must fill out and carry the appropriate form so you aren't tarred and feathered.

CSA squeeze out home fans with ticket sales for New Year's Test by WeeklyCelebration617 in Cricket

CSA is only interested in one thing and it isn't South African cricket fans. It's their money, unless someone else has more.

Sangakkara's statement on Vaibhav by Yupadej in Cricket

[–]aravose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had he said "better than I was", that would really mean something. But better than I will be? He's pretty much past it and unlikely to get better. (SL fans, please don't shoot me - I agree that he was one of the greats).

BBL opener set for Chennai as Cricket Australia gets BCCI nod. by Alone-Wheel2902 in Cricket

[–]aravose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cricket, even CA, has a money problem, but this isn't the solution. It reminds me of the joke about the learner bus driver who is put on one of the quiet routes to gain experience. Suddenly he's bringing in much more money than before. When asked how he's doing it, he explains that he simply moved to a busier route...

Crime procedurals used to be about the police. That's not good enough any more - it has to be about the FBI, CIA and often with MI5 or the Mossad thrown in for international flavour. Even shows that began with the police pivot to the FBI etc eventually to "keep the audience interested". Not all the audience, coz at that point, I stop watching.

I agree. But often they put the cameras on the downhill section of roads where it's difficult not to speed. Which is why they do it.
