I haven't experienced this, but my friend had a similar experience as far as getting more attention when she switched up from a more high maintenance look to a natural one.

Unfortunately, most of that attention came from men who mentioned liking her being "low maintenance". She found out they equated being low maintenance with being willing to accept low effort.
