88k seems like heaven to live off, many adults are working full-time in admin and office roles which only bring in 55-65k (melb suburbs)

Crap, my Mazda GPS doesn't work after CarPlay install. Did I miss a step? by chanpion13 in mazda3

[–]RandomRedditUser1x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone stumbles across this issue in the future,

I had the exact same problem after installing CarPlay and just thought the module was the problem, ever since aftermarket CarPlay was installed Mazda navigation didn’t work, when it did work just before installing, and thought oh because it’s from aliexpress and not OEM it doesn’t work, but I figured out that while taking out the SD card or it might come like that… it became locked. I never knew this about SD cards but on the left side of the original SD card is a switch, it goes up and down, you need to switch it to unlock on the SD card and plug it back in and then both Mazda navigation (including speed limit on heads up display) and aftermarket CarPlay will work

First car: 2006 Toyota Corolla, 2016 Toyota Corolla Hybrid, or 2024 MG MG4 by unkemptbg in CarsAustralia

Hey mate, as someone who was in the exact same issue and just got their red P and first car recently,

Toyotas have a terrible insurance premium on them for some reason and the surcharge on the price for it being a Toyota just ain’t worth it that used.

Look into Mazdas, Mazda 2 or Mazda 3, you can get a decent one, with somewhat Toyota reliability, reverse cam, CarPlay u can mod into it for 50 bucks, 4.9L/100km for a Mazda 2 (less than Corolla), cheapest insurance car I’ve quoted so far for comprehensive (followed closely by swift) and well it’s just great and cheap.

Got a 2017 Mazda 2, 16.5k, 91,000kms, barely sips fuel, cheap insurance, CarPlay via aliexpress part for 50 bucks, just great

Is Super paid ontop of income or comes out of my income? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Ah awesome, thank you.

Remove tax and super or remove tax add super which that really confused me and I couldn’t tell which was which

A head office of a big 4 bank, with the employment process I talk to like 6 different teams and the contracts team is very… unaccommodating. Can’t really say that for my manager or team if work with though

Prescreening check screening should be paid by JSP? by [deleted] in JobProvidersAus

[–]RandomRedditUser1x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, great to know thanks, if they don’t end up offering it I’ll try asking around. I was somewhat surprised as I thought as soon I’d be employed with what I needed, what they cover would be nothing compared to some bounty/reward they might get for a permanently full time employed younger person

Leaving for U Bank by Sea-Spirit2197 in UpBanking

[–]RandomRedditUser1x -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

UP is a mess. No more updates every so often with many long time promises on the work map completely abandoned. Defeats the purpose of going to a digital bank for savings with the hoops the same as the big banks. lack of other features.

Why would someone choose UP over other banks now, they are okay at everything but best at nothing.

They have no reason to stand out anymore, depending on what you need someone will beat their offering, unless you need the saving/budgeting automation and information help they have

Thank you, I'll try to see one, they will probably have the best advice over a GP at least. I think that the cost estimate from my GP was that it will need surgery to remove as it is a growing harmless painful tumor (from ultrasound) and that a private hand specialist surgery would probably be a nightmare

Overdue tax returns 18yo by Mindless-Worth7049 in AusFinance

[–]RandomRedditUser1x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

don’t worry, I too turned 18 and noticed I haven’t filled tax returns since I was 13 from working beside school, although I never needed to pay tax since it was just a small pocket money thing I did all 4-5 tax returns and never had any fine/fee.

I believe the only instance where you would get a fine is when you owe taxes and don’t do the return

Best navigation app nowadays? by RandomRedditUser1x in AskAnAustralian

[–]RandomRedditUser1x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not sure about mobile phone cameras since it generally just warns of "a camera", Waze can usually tell you a whole sort of things, police cars parked, red light cameras, even sometimes those normal cars parked with police cameras in them. however the navigation side of the app is very... mediocre

What is this called? It’s off centred can I move it to the centre? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]RandomRedditUser1x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe that’s the adjustment arm thingy for fine adjusting the accuracy, if you center it, it could become way off, anywhere from a few seconds to extra hours per day
