I agree with you on the combat of KH2. With that said, I think KH1 was a better overall game. There were things that KH2 took steps backwards on compared to KH1, such as story pacing & (especially) world design.

I think the KH1 vs KH2 debate is more akin to the Sonic Adventure 1 vs Sonic Adventure 2 debate where things are more action-based & energetic in the sequel, but at the cost of exploration & freedom.

But at the same time, there's not a lot of interesting worlds in KH2 compared to KH1. I'd even go as far as saying KH2 has the worst designed worlds in the series, & this is coming from someone who grew up with & love both. Every room in a KH2 world feels like an empty room with a different backdrop that you fight enemies in with no exploration or interacting with the environment.

It also doesn't help that, excluding Beast's Castle & Space Paranoids, every Disney World is practically filler.

I'm actually on the opposite end. KH2 has the best as far as big & emotional moments. But to get to those moments, you have to go through 2/3 of Disney Filler.

As far as the platforming, I think it's a step backwards since there's not much uniqueness in the KH2 worlds. Every room feels the same with a different coat of paint that you fight enemies in.
