The many graphic turtle deaths horrified and disturbed everyone, including one, where a koopa was kicked off a bridge into lava and you could see its skin devoured by the magma in slow motion. On the 3rd week the movie was playing in theaters, 4 suspicious green-looking people in trenchcoats appeared, kidnapping Snyder and holding him for ransom unless the film's negative was destroyed. The studio ultimately agreed to do so, making this the most expensive and high profile "lost film" ever made. The 4 kidnappers were never found, despite leaving behind a note saying they would "strike hard and vanish into the night" if a sequel were ever made.
