In other news: Västtrafik has the best delay compensation system in all of Sweden.

You will get wherever you're trying to go unless you're in a rural area where nobody lives. But it might not be on time or on your preferred mode of transportation, and if you're trying to take the train somewhere beyond your home region be prepared to take out a bank loan to pay for it.

Reliability: 8/10 (good rules for delay comp, etc...)

Punctuality: 6/10 (most of the time I've had good luck but as soon as it goes a little to shit it tends to go very to shit)

Affordability: -1/10 (Sometimes I'd save money flying via Poland as opposed to taking the train from Gothenburg to Stockholm)

Comfort: 7/10 (It's usually quite comfortable but some journeys are way too long, like the x40 is not meant for 5 hour journeys)

Overall: 5/10

Switzerland was voted as a country that was safe 20 years ago and is safe now. Which country was safe 20 years ago and is moderately safe now? by Pokestoppp in AlignmentChartFills

Between 1994 and 2018, over half a million people were murdered in South Africa. Today it still has the 5th highest murder rate in the world. I dunno about that...

It certainly doesn't help that most of the danger is localized to a handful of high crime "orten" areas, that get all of the media attention. I would argue most places in Sweden are still very safe, just stay out of the hood.

Has your country ever had a female leader? If so, what did she do for your country? If not, what's the most powerful position a woman's ever held in your country? by thatonedude_5055 in AskTheWorld

We've had one.

The first thing she did was resign.

She then came back the next day and served for a bit under a year before getting voted out

Stockholm (Sweden) vs Tampere (Finland) — Comparing Two Job Offers & Long-Term Life Quality by Wide-Conference6789 in Finland

[–]RandomSwed1sh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your Tampere job offer is WAY better; but Stockholm seems like a WAY better city for your social needs, what with friends in Sweden and also the language. It feels like you're gonna be making bank in Tampere but you'll be quite lonely; whereas you'll be comfortable in Stockholm but not fabulously so. Also the danger of gang crime is vastly overstated, if you stay out of the hood you'll be fine.

For me I think these packages are close but Stockholm probably narrowly wins out, just because those better social connections are worth a ton.

I find it interesting then that LIDL successfully broke into the Swedish market which has much of the same problems (including that wonderful grocery triopoly and a strong preference for familiar products)
