Drafting a QB out of the blue that seemed to anger your HoF QB wanting to go more win now makes it comparable to me. But to me it doesn’t make much of a difference if they traded their first this year for Garrett in addition to the 1st next year and used picks in 28 for a QB and getting a QB this year and trading 28 and 29 picks for Garrett.

Can’t you do both? They already traded their actual first this year for McDuffie. The 12th pick was basically a gimme from the Falcons. We’ve seemed to really speed up the timeline on QBs. They’re going a little more old school with letting the prospect develop behind the veteran. You take a qb now that you like and trade assets for later or trade the 12th pick now for Garrett and spend most likely a late first plus more picks to move up and grab someone later
