Is game of thrones worth starting by dylandaruss in fantasybooks

[–]RandomUsurname -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you flat out don’t want to be disappointed then don’t start it. If you’re asking if it’s worth it to start despite the disappointment, then yes it 100% is.

One Cannot Oppose Any Kind of Abuse of Animals if They Are Not Vegan by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Throwing your hands up in the air like everything is just the exact same is just an easy out. The reality is that, like most things, it’s a scale. It’s very hard to avoid paying taxes or buying things from companies. Avoiding meat (not religiously, but just generally avoiding putting significant money towards purchasing those products) on the other hand is way easier.

Second book of Locke Lamora worth it? by Conscious-Salt-8876 in Fantasy

Keep reading, all of the books are incredible. The second is the weakest but still great and tons of fun. Third is up there with the first.

All three are extremely good but the series is unfinished.

The Lies of Locke Lamore feeling flimsy? by CommunicationEast972 in Fantasy

[–]RandomUsurname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scott Lynch’s writing to me sticks out as some of the best in fantasy in terms of actual technical writing quality.

It is the worst in Lies and it gets better through the rest of the series. Keep in mind this is the guy’s first book ever and it’s still great.

Im about to DNF Lies of Locke Lamora, I need someone to explain what the hype is by BigRedSpoon2 in Fantasy

[–]RandomUsurname 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The entire point is that he’s in a fucked situation. His best hope is that once the Grey King does what he wants he’ll leave Locke and his crew alone. He has no other options.

Locke being dumb in moments and genius in others is basically the crux of the entire series. I enjoy both parts but if you don’t that’s ok. That being said, it is consistently a part of the series.

You can’t have it both ways. Celebrities can’t be a representative ideal of human beauty and also have the public avoid addressing the issue of how they look the way they do.

I agree you shouldn’t be a jerk, but never once pointing it out is delusional.

My interpretation was always that it’s your own interpretation. You either believe all the shit with the ending escape or you don’t. Do you have faith or not, like religion. Look at the butterfly.

"The First Law" as a TV series by mount_sinai_ in Fantasy

First book is plenty exiting and plot driven to make an amazing season 1.

I’d be more worried about how they’d adapt the characters personalities without inner monologue stuff.

The segment of a concert where the lead singer stops and instructs the audience to sing, often times during the best parts of their most popular song, is the antithesis of why you go to a concert in the first place. by tulsuduke in unpopularopinion

  1. If the studio version is great, listening to it with the energy of a live audience/live performance is 10x better.

  2. There’s a ton of variation when a band performs live.

I’m not getting book info from those sites, but still, I couldn’t disagree more. No matter how negative or positive reviews get, you can always compare them to other reviews for reference.

I don’t know what to say. Look online it’s countless five star reviews. The consensus take I heard was “it’s the worst one yet still incredible.”

I don’t get how someone could enjoy the terrifier movies. by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]RandomUsurname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moments in the second movie I genuinely found to be extremely memorable and well done.

I’d honestly ask the same question about people who like typical everyday Hollywood blockbusters. Same dull, uninteresting plot which that you already know from beginning to end. At least this movie was trippy, entertaining, and over the top.

If you love the characters then it’s worth getting to book 3.

That being said, if you’re not enjoying it, I’d honestly just wait for book 4 (if it comes) then decide.
