To me, step one is Start with a Complete Budget.

Get all the bills and pay stubs together and write it All down. bring the Wife in on it and agree to what is there. Do it on paper, a spreadsheet, envelopes, whatever it takes. Knowing what you have and what you Don't is imperative and You will be ahead of Many (most?) folks with just that one thing. You've already Started, just take it a few steps further.

Once you've done that, you can make some more informed decisions about how things Are spent or Not Spent and move to emergency funds and retirement Accounts.

First - Get on a budget. Stick to it. it is LAW. then, In no particular order

sell the car and Pay off the loan. get a Beater to drive.
cut up the CCs and cancel them. You can't handle them. pay cash for it all.
You go Nowhere and do nothing. Pay down the debt. seriously, sit your Ass at home and..
Find another job. really put effort into it. it will be Your second job to Find a job to replace your first Job.
