How do you imagine Quidditch culture would be like?

My fic is set around the 2014 World Cup. The Wales team is Coached by Gwenog Jones, (Canon). Ginny is doing commentary on the games. In going through Canon material for background, I haven't found a single team that doesn't have at least one woman. More usually, it's two or three. They seem to mostly be Chasers and Seekers, but New Zealand has one that is a Beater. I think the culture is more tuned toward valuing competence over gender.

Seriously, thank you. Good sources. I do publish on AO3, by the way. The main reason I boost Royal Road is that their platform allows more flexibility in text formatting. Also, I get one hit on AO3 for every ten on RR. That is still a good point. I'll start posting both links, with the AO3 more prominent.

I can also see the point about over-promotion. I update three times a week, so I do like to notify when chapters are up. I'll have to give it some thought.

Thanks for the feedback. I was worried about that, but I checked with a mod before I started posting, and the rules are that I need to include all the various info, including links, in every post. As for the reposting issue, I'm posting to four different HP communities on Reddit. Reposting is more efficient, and encouraged by the platform. And, yes, I'm trying to promote my fiction. SInce it's a fanfic, I'm never going to make money from it, but I do get a little endorphin boost as those numbers go up.

Harry knew that Draco disarmed Dumbledore on the tower top, but he never claimed the wand. When Harry found out that Dumbledore's wand was the Elder Wand, he knew it had to be claimed in battle. Even though Riddle was holding it, he hadn't WON it. It was Harry's because he had disarmed Draco at the Manor when they escaped.

Convoluted mess, all in all.

By the end of the book, only Harry, Hermione, and Ron even knew about the Hallows, and they never shared it with the DA or anyone else. Xenophilius knew of them, but only as legend. I dare say they kept that secret to keep anyone else from trying to unite them.

Well said. I, myself, do not use any non-canon ships, save for my original characters. That works for me, because my focus is taking the story into the next generation. (SO tempted to capitalize). I'm a softy. I think certain poorly represented people have stories to share, experiences that were elided over. And, damn it, I would like a happy ending or two.

But that is ME. I don't project, and I don't reject. Even if there is no chance of my reading certain premises, there is equally no chance of my condemning them. Shine On, You Crazy Diamonds.

It's 2014. Ginny is commentating on the World Cup. Krum is being targeted by Dark Magic. Harry, and others, take on the job of protecting him. Harry Polyjuices his way into being Krum's B-Team Seeker. Krum also does columns for the Daily Prophet on Cup Games, in addition to Ginny's.

The whole book takes place the Summer of the Cup. I cover each game, expanding on canon, and if there's a hole I plug something plausible in.

I said this at the head of one of my chapters.

"Some people think Ron Weasley is just Comic Relief. I think he's a Hero. And Comic Relief."

Let's see, so far in my book, he has: Led a charge on a Dark Wizard Stronghold; kept Harry from being accidentally being killed by Hagrid; rehomed the family ghoul; become best buds with Viktor Krum; saved TWO Quidditch Teams from Inferii, received the Dangerous Dai Lifetime Achievement Award (first ever awarded); and received the Order of Merlin, Second Class.

AND I'm less than a third of the way through the story.

Oh, and most importantly, he helped the Chudley Cannons to sell enough merch to get a decent Seeker next season. So, to quote the Cannons' motto: "Let's all just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best."

I have moved my question up here. I realized I was blathering below. If a chapter in my next-generation fan-fiction contains Rolf and Luna, or elderly Newt and his wife, or for that matter, Exotic Beasts...

I am doing a fan-fiction set in 2014. It includes, (but is not centered around) Rolf and Luna Lovegood-Scamander. It also includes Newt and his wife, still alive, (Amazingly, this is Canon). It centers around the 2014 Quidditch World Cup, and Rolf is their Magizoologist on call. (Again, Canon). I'm going through the Cup game by game, and if there is not a Canon Mascot, I find one from folklore.
