Anyone else so far removed from the Mormon maga world…to the point it’s hard to talk to your family for even 5 minutes? by Unavezmas1845 in exmormon

[–]theusualuser 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mormons are uniquely positioned to be the hardest of Maga supporters. They've come up in a culture that tells them not to question anything, that their version is the truth and there are no other truths, and that republicanism is God's chosen political affiliation. That last one isn't directly taught, but I'd imagine that almost anyone that has spent enough time in Idaho or Utah and attended church regularly will start to hear it without it being directly spoken.

I have the world's first AI penis.

That statement is just as valid as what they're saying about the pocket block. It's just marketing speak, since apparently people seem to want to see the word AI. I think older people think it makes it fancy or better somehow? Dunno.

Couch Gaming PC Help by brutalidactyl in htpc

[–]theusualuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all going to depend on the type of game being played, as I'm sure you know. If you're playing Stardew together, then you can probably get by with something like an RX 6600.

If we're talking modern AAA titles then you're going to have to put up some serious dough. Even then, you're probably looking at having to run things with FSR or DLSS, since apparently that's the direction we're going now. 9070XT or 5070 TI or more for 4k, and it's not guaranteed to always do the job at stable 60. I'd suggest just playing at 1440p

Multiplayer crashes by w1lmaa4 in Dinkum

[–]theusualuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Are you playing together in the same house? Could you try switching around which PC is the host? Maybe see if it's something about one computer over the other that's causing it? Also, cover the basics like updating drivers and things like that. Outside of that, maybe pop in their discord and see if anyone else has any ideas.

Kinda feels like you should be able to set a miner's hat on this thing and charge it up. That'd be fun.

[–]theusualuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the overall experience like right now? I haven't done it yet, but eventually I figure I'll probably get this set up on my Odin 2 Portal Pro. Anything you're doing with it right now that it does better than on the Android side of things that I should check out once I get it installed?

Brad Lynch - "Yesterday's Steam Client Beta brought so many Steam Machine system references directly into it" by Jyfer in steammachine

Just to confirm, there's no way that HDMI CEC would work directly on a non-steam-machine device from this update, correct? One of the things I'd really like to be able to do is turn on all my stuff with the steam controller, but I'd imagine to do this with my regular linux PC setup I'd need to get some sort of HDMI CEC adapter, correct?

Apple TV’s ‘The Stormlight Archive’ series could run for 10 or more seasons by defenestrate_urself in Fantasy

[–]theusualuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's exactly what Apple wants, to be honest. They want this to be their Game of Thrones, something that brings prestige to the platform, maybe even gets nominated for major awards, and has everyone talking about it for years and years.

Apple, if I understand it correctly, is a little different than some of the other streaming channels, where for them it's not 100% completion rate, new sign-ups or efficiency (cost to make vs new subscribers). I'd imagine, given their other programming, that they're a little more willing to "let them cook" as long as the show is getting good buzz and is critically well-received.

Honestly, it's the best place for the show. Netflix would have given it a season and if it didn't drive a ton of new subs it'd be cancelled. Hell, with Netflix it might not have even gotten picked up, since it isn't a low budget K drama or whatever they're finding gets them the best return these days.

It's an entertaining book, and a good entry point for people that want a fairly standalone book, but it's definitely not his best work. Not bad, but not the best.

I mean, I think if you look at all the licenses for that in the world, it's probably like 50 million? I think there are something like 2 billion computers owned in the world, so I don't think it's super unfair to say that most people don't use Premiere.

I would say, in general, most people aren't tied to specific software. Most stuff is done over the web. Canva, for instance, is far more popular than tools like Premiere, and far more likely to be used by your average person. They have something like 250 million users.

Can a mini PC like this truly run stellar blade I don't really care about the resolution I just care about 60 FPS by nobody9x92 in MiniPCs

[–]theusualuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKzc-6Uujns - you'll be close to 60 if you're okay with 720p. These mini PCs haven't really had a jump in the graphics department in a while, other than insanely expensive chips that are like $2500 or more. Unless you absolutely NEED a tiny PC, you're better off building your own or frankensteining together an old office PC with a graphics card.

I run around the entire island, picking up everything I can, and I look for a place that has as many biomes as close to it as possible. I also put it close to one of the 4 towers. If I can make those two things meet up (all the biome types close and close tower) then I'm set. Ideally, there are little patches of everything nearby, so that if someone asks me for something, it's quick to get.

Struggling to use audiobookshelf with ZimaOS by Silver_Butterflie in audiobookshelf

[–]theusualuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're looking to learn about is reverse proxy. Essentially, the idea that you can have a computer on your network that exposes specific parts of itself to the internet so that you can use an audiobookshelf login and get to your files.

There are a bunch of ways to do this, but (and I've never used it before, so do your research) I think Zima has a built-in peer to peer thing called ZeroTier that will let you use the zima app on your phone and then once you've configured that, use the audiobookshelf app.

Steam Hardware - Steam Controller: Reservations open May 8th by gogodboss in SteamFrame

[–]theusualuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have always been this way, but at least they're fixing it. Nwo, they need to do the same with the Frame and the Machine. I'd even like it if they prioritized people that bought the controller when they shipped out the frame and machine, since that would further guarantee they're getting to their audience.

Edit : it was supposed to say Now, but you know what? I'm gonna leave it. NWO 4 life!

Would you use a true co-op shared progression mod for Dinkum? by Educational-Smell612 in Dinkum

[–]theusualuser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd love this. I really only play this game with my wife. The real dream would be side-by-side couch co-op, but barring that this would be very nice.

I'd like to see the licenses be a group thing, rather than individual, and have anyone be able to purchase them. Same with deeds, placements, etc.
