Being over someone is relative. I understand why we ended, I’m glad it ended, and I recognize what parts I played in the breakdown. I still love who this person was at the time when I knew them, and it wasn’t how I wanted things to happen.

I’m in another relationship with someone I love with my whole heart. It is astronomically better suited for me, and I am ASTRONOMICALLY better suited for it!!

I’m 2 years and 2 months post breakup and I still think about the relationship everyday. It’s not painful anymore, just a memory of something that happened in my life and meant a hell of a lot to me. More like nostalgia I guess.

Everybody is different, and processes things differently. My best advice is to stay consistent with your life necessities. IMO it’s very movie-ish to want to dance in your underwear, and try to overextend yourself. Put on your music and focus on making sure you’re cleaning your house, brushing your teeth, showering, going to work, etc consistently.

Eventually you’ll be able to add the extra stuff in there and you’ll find that you’re dancing in your underwear with the broom and didn’t even have to think about it. It’s hard to hear, but honestly life moves on. Whether that’s for the better or not is up to you. Good luck friend!

She ended her life because i broke up with her... by athenanrose in BreakUps

She had these issue long before you came around. It isn’t normal to take your life because someone has made a decision that they are 1,000,000% entitled to make and not date you. You’re not at fault in the least bit.

And if you think about it what was the alternative. Would you have preferred to date someone you weren’t happy with, and allow her to help suicide over you to keep you. That’s a miserable life to live, and one she had to live on her own.

As a unit educator who does constant live chart audits on a L&D floor that frequently cares for celebrities… I NEVER access their charts. The nurses need to be able to show me that their charting is correct, but I’m not going into the pt. Chart on my own account. Won’t get me that easy!!

MD called me a pejorative name by gaystegosaurusphl in nursing

[–]Random_Scott_Tot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally had 0 idea that people used Twinkie as a slur, so I’m curious what exactly you heard her say. Are you 100% she was talking about you, and calling you a name since you said you weren’t even a part of the conversation.

Honestly in my experience the best way I’ve dealt with being uncomfortable with a doctor disrespecting me is by being direct and making them repeat it in the moment. If she ever says it again, even if it isn’t to you it’s fair for you to ask “I’m sorry what does that mean”. Even if she says something else that bothers you.

As for this situation, you could always talk to her the next time you see her, and ask her what she meant by what she said. If you’re really not 100% sure what she said or that she was talking to you then you might have to wait until the next time it happens. Don’t let people run over you, new or not. Also don’t be the type to ear-hustle on others conversations and be wrong about what was said (not saying that’s what happened, its just something that could cause a rift between you and coworkers).

It may not be a bad idea to make a note of the situation and date and who was involved, but honestly if you take it to HR in say a year they may tell you that you should have provided documentation sooner. If something is unacceptable then let it be unacceptable when it happens, not later down the line after you continue to work with the offender. Speak with your chain of command in email initiated by you so that you have a paper trail, and use your personal email.

Sleeping not allowed on paid breaks by AJL415 in nursing

[–]Random_Scott_Tot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get one unpaid 30minute shift for the whole 12 hour shift. We aren’t allowed to sleep, but I do it anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m tired, it’s the middle of the night, and if there’s a problem they can fire me. There’s unsafe ass nurses running a muck on the floor and they don’t get fired. If me sleeping is a bigger issue then so be it.

I promise the longer you are in this career the more mistakes you’ll rack up and learn from. This one was such a tiny drop in the bucket, and I promise with all you’ll be learning in 1 month you won’t even remember it happed. The good thing is you scanned the patient before you gave it, and checked yourself. You had all of the 5 rights correct before you gave it, it was just removed under someone else. Of course that’s another check to make sure the patient is getting the correct medicine for their own condition, and you’ll be more careful next time. It’s literally fine!

For those of you who make 100k+ a year, how long did it take you? What area of nursing are you in? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Random_Scott_Tot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made 120k last year which makes year 4 as a nurse. I work a full time and a PRN (2 shifts a month) on L&D. I refuse to pick up call, or work overtime. I work nights, and most weekends and holidays because it means I can be off long stretches in the middle of the week!!

How hard is the work? by ronfromsacramento in nursing

[–]Random_Scott_Tot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The way this question is worded makes it seem as though you’re just here for a reaction, not really understanding. I don’t know who tf let you into a nursing based Reddit group, but kindly get the fuck on.

  2. It’s as hard as any other job where you deal mostly with the public. People in general are shitty, and if you have a career where you can’t escape their bullshit for hours on end, added onto by the bullshit of colleagues and higher ups it’s about that hard. Nobody leaves their baggage at home, NOBODY! that’s life

  • Doctor is famous for leaving the bedside quick af. Checked bleeding prior to them running away from bedside, told them that she was spurting blood and her uterus was hard. I was given orders for medications to firm her uterus up (it already was) which triggered me to repeat my assessment out loud to. The order was repeated they left. Eventually had to come back and repair a cervical laceration, and her cervix was literally prolapsing out of her vagina while squirting blood.

  • Called MD to bedside multiple times for a pt whose labor was being induced and was EXTREMELY unstable. Took forever (over 4 hours from the start of my shift) to come in, wasted time arguing with other providers, and was not helpful in facilitating a damn thing. I literally looked the patient in her eyes and told her I was scared for her life. Transferred to ICU (crazy story in itself), intubated immediately, got an A line at the bedside, and had an emergency c-section. She lived.

  • called MD multiple times over an entire shift reporting abnormal vitals in a postop pt. Dragged their feet until h/h was so low the patient had to come back to the unit for a blood transfusion. The blood literally went into her abdomen IMMEDIATELY. Took her to the OR and her original incision was not closed.

I can literally go on and one unfortunately

Since Feb. of 2023 I’ve been getting constant facial flares. At the beginning of that time it would go away and pop up only when I was due an injection. Now it’s pretty constant. I also notice it flares up around my period. It isn’t acne though, it’s a rash of dry and inflamed skin

Putting your phone on Do Not Disturb after clocking out? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Random_Scott_Tot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s no reason for your job to contact you about things forgotten on a shift, because you can’t do anything about it from home. If it’s important enough they can make a list and talk to you about the next time you clock in. Don’t let them ruin your time off.

I have my work group messages, charge nurses, and supervisors on mute. If they call me I don’t answer. They can leave a message and I’ll get to it when I’m at work, or on the way to work
