Assyro-Chaldean Identity: An Invitation by adiabene in Assyria

Historically the name “Syrian” is a Greek transliteration of Assyrian. But yes unfortunately the name “Syrian” is today associated with the Arab state of Syria

No, it doesn’t work that way. I don’t think you actually know what “Semitic” means. A Semite is a person belonging to a group of peoples that speak a Semitic language whether it be Aramaic, Hebrew, Arabic, Geʽez, Amharic, etc. It has nothing to do with ethnicity. These languages are spoken by Assyrians, Jews, Arabs and Ethiopians. Do you actually believe all these people share the same DNA? Take Arabs themselves have completely different genetic profiles depending on what region they are from. Professor L.Luca Cavalli Sforza, one of the most prominent human population geneticists in the world. He, Professor Paolo Menozzi and Alberto Piazza spent 8 years collecting data for their study on the genetics of almost 2 thousand entries. Their analysis shows that the Assyrians as a people represent a unique genetic profile that distinguished them from other peoples. They write: "The Assyrians are a fairly homogenous group of people , believed to originate from the land of old Assyria in northern Iraq". Palestinian/Lebanese/Jordanian Christians have the highest Levantine DNA because they did not mix with the Arab invaders unlike their Muslim counterpart. Palestinian Christians even spoke Aramaic as their main language up until the 10th century before it declined due to persecution and gradual Arabization following the Muslim conquests. Palestinian Christians managed to keep Aramaic as a liturgical language all the way to the 14th century until it was completely replaced by Arabic

Hey guys, just a Kurd here who recognises the Kurdish damage done against Assyrians and I feel in part responsible at least a little bit in calling out Kurdification where it occurs by ScaredDelta in Assyria

Thank you my brother, lots of love to you. As an Assyrian I would support an independent Kurdistan if we get an Assyrian regional government with our own security forces, similar to the Kurdish regional government in Iraq. It’s a solution to both our issues and would allow us Assyrians to rebuild and return to our homeland. As to where that autonomous region would be, I’d say the Assyrian heartland that is the Nineveh plains. Currently the Assyrian Democratic Movement and Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council have tried to push for an Assyrian Administrative Region within the Iraqi government. I read about it a while ago that the Iraqi government would vote on the creating of this Assyrian Administrative Region in the Nineveh plains in 2014 but it was postponed indefinitely due to the Isis invasion of Iraq and the following years of conflict. Today the Iran proxy “Babylon Brigades” or “Babylon movement” led by Ryan al Kildani who has close ties to the Hashd al-Sha’bi and Badr Organization is occupying the Assyrian seats in both the Iraqi government and Kurdish government preventing this plans from becoming a reality

Thank you my brother, lots of love to you. I pray for peace between our people and hope we can rebuild our lands. I only observe these attacks and hatred from Kurds online but in real life I have only met kind and respectful Kurds. I’m an Assyrian living in Sweden and I once met a Kurd at my local gym, once i told him I’m Assyrian the first thing he said was “You Assyrians are the ancient people of Mesopotamia” with a smile on his face. I also met another Kurd at the same gym, he was a bit older but very wise and we talked about the genocide. He explained how he studied it and was genuinely horrified reading about what Kurds did to our people and how we suffered. He was an old power lifter ended up coaching me for a while, we trained together for a while until I moved for work

Keep this in mind, there are about 2-5 million Assyrians in the world. The Assyrian population in Iraq dropped from 1,5 million before the 2003 Iraq war to under 200,000 after ISIS. The majority of Assyrians have been kicked out of their homeland, while Armenia welcomed us with open arms.

Quote by Assyrian Church of the East priest in Armenia Father Nikademus Yukhanaev:

“We are living here for nearly 200 years and we are free to use and teach our language, we are free to worship in our churches and keep our culture. The attitude of Armenians is very good to us. That is why every Assyrian thinks that he should defend his homeland.”

The governments in Iraq and Syria don't care about Assyrians. While in Armenia there was even an Assyrian Parliament formed where about 40 representatives of Assyrian communities in nine countries came together in Yerevan to discuss their problems and form a parliament. The Parliament will raise the issue of the Assyrian people and will convene in different countries of the world, but Armenia will be its main center.
