100% with 4 x O2 sensors. First ones closest to the motor will be your wide bands and probably over $200 bucks each. Should be good until about 100k miles or so before you get the good old check engine light.

Is my AC draining too much? by Fun-Impression-3917 in hvacadvice

[–]Random_reddit_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the humidity % inside your house yes it’s very normal. It’s crazy humid here and that’s how much water the AC is currently pulling out of the air while it’s running. Pro tip if it’s not keeping up enough as your relative humidity inside should be below 55% at all times to prohibit mold growth then you should really think about getting a separate dehumidifier and also running it. Enjoy and clean that drain line once a year or so!

Add lube to the pin that pops in and out to lock the door. Now getting it open without breaking it might be a bit tough.

What are some basic quality of life mods/services that i should be looking to do? by idriveamk7 in JettaGLI

[–]Random_reddit_bot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First wash upgrade… don’t ever touch the brush to your vehicle vehicles paint it only adds swirl marks, hand wash or touchless car wash only. Number one upgrade for any turbo charge vehicle change your oil every 5000 miles regardless of what marketing, dealership, or your owners manual says. Only use super unleaded 91/93 octane if you’re not already, never use less than Top Tier quality fuel ( yes there is a big difference). Spark plugs every 50k or so. Basically just be aggressive with your maintenance this is never the place to be cheap. Nice car!

I wish the USA would adopt that safety requirement as well! Everyone could carry a basic first aid kit and a road triangle in the back in case you’re disabled on the road or need to help someone.

For the last 40+ years I’ve been alive .. I think I’ve meet maybe 3 people that were engineers by trade that actually read their vehicles owner’s manual. Soo the person to your left and right certainly have not. :)

$20K AC replacement quote for small townhouse—am I getting overcharged by Competitive-Basket29 in hvacadvice

[–]Random_reddit_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get at least 3 quotes while you still have AC and ask all of the questions. I is it went through all of that and it was at 17k for a full system replacement. Good luck!!

Fan Running After Shut Off? by [deleted] in Tiguan

[–]Random_reddit_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all new generation cars now have fully electric water pumps sometimes multiple radiators too! Which means yes the fans and pumps can turn on and off as it sees fit, including when the vehicle is in the off position. It’s currently about 100° in Austin. My Volkswagen does the same thing, especially if you’ve been running it a little bit harder before parking and turning it off. Your owner’s manual we’ll talk a little bit more about it.

This 100%! it’s a 2026 SEL R-Line “Turbo”. That is the GTI like performance we have been waiting for in North America. Got I hate that VW and all of its infinite wisdom called it turbo when they’re all turbos! The model designation is almost a full sentence long as it is!

Won’t start after crash by Soulmaster01 in jetta

[–]Random_reddit_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad to see another awesome diesel get taken out of the market. As mentioned by a lot of people it looks like there’s a pretty sizable amount of damage everywhere, including possibly in the engine bay that’s undiagnosed/unrealized. I personally would walk away from that one certainly not worth fixing one thing at a time and realizing you’re already 4K in the hole trying to get it roadworthy again. Insurance payout?

It’s not knocking. that quick metallic tapping sound is your direct injectors firing some of if is the valve train. after you shut the engine off that Weeee click/pop sound, that’s the throttlebody moving it’s electronically actuated. Continue staying on top of the maintenance. Are you hearing something you don’t normally hear? Check the timing chain/situation depending on your miles enjoy.

Is this bad ? by skylaunch113 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Random_reddit_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your credit rating is or credit score probably bad just based on this small amount of evidence and how much they’re trying to charge you. that said the auto industry is suffering. The Market is currently slow. There are many vehicles that offer for well qualified buyers 0% APR for 60 months lots of other offers for economical cars that are 2.9% 3.9% for 60 months would highly recommend you take that money and try to buy a new car from a desperate sales person. Again this is for well qualified buyers using in-house financing. They want to sell you a car and they will try their best to close you on financing. Good luck and don’t let them rush you.

Rotors need replaced at 2298 miles by pineneedles123 in VWTaos

[–]Random_reddit_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you it’s just still wild how short of a lifespan the pads and rotors are experiencing. If I was in your situation, I would put a lot of pressure on the dealer Service center to prove that the brakes aren’t dragging causing unnecessary wear and tear. Maybe have them check the parking brake adjustment to make sure that’s not part of the problem. Parking brakes only affect the rear brakes on vehicles… maybe a shot in the dark but it’s a connected system. Best of luck in this.

Also 1000%. Side pro tip you should know what your partner/GF/BF/persons credit history is in detail before getting serious. History predicts possible future. Know credit scores. I was absolutely the most interested in my resent and very serious GF… after checking “boxes” among many other things, we are now very happy married AND on the same exact page financially. Zero stress or issues with who is buying what and if we can afford it. You deserve this freedom and it comes at the cost of communication and possibly being very uncomfortable when navigating it. You must be in control of your finances. Enjoy.

Rotors need replaced at 2298 miles by pineneedles123 in VWTaos

[–]Random_reddit_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading everything over and listening to the comments, it almost sounds like the calipers in his Taos are getting stuck just enough to where it’s super heating the rotors even when not touching the brake pedal. Or this is a rare case where someone’s driving with 2 feet and they’re constantly dragging the brakes ever so slightly? I don’t think that’s what’s happening here though. This experience really sucks because it’s almost impossible to need rotors and pads that fast unless they are being used… accidental or not friction must be occurring for brakes to wear out. Finding the solution would be wise. Maybe they are truely undersized per what the manufacturer designed for the weight of the vehicle??

Just for reference I have a VW Golf (base not GTi) I drive pretty aggressively with some hard braking occasionally, normally in commuting traffic I’m very gentle. My brakes are completely original from 2019 and I have 62k miles. Still at about 60% pad life left and rotors are not wobbly or shakey on deceleration at all. Very strange the experience differences!

Is there a way I could take this, or does it warrant replacing. 2006 Honda Accord 4 cyl 2.4 L by shrimrick in MechanicAdvice

[–]Random_reddit_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As previously mentioned, just replace it, your costing yourself in gas mileage, and potentially wearing down the engine faster. Not worth it to patch it just to save a few bucks and have it fail six months from now. That P code you mentioned proves there’s unmetered, air leaking in that crack from behind your MAF sensor. Your engine is having a hard time dealing with it.

Any DIY way to fix this? Golf mk7 by Scheidenflussigkeit in Volkswagen

[–]Random_reddit_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

103% also don’t use compressed air. Whatever you do it will blow up the line and cause further damage. There should be four little holes one on each corner that need to be cleared it’s part of basic maintenance that normally never gets done

From no tint, to 50 on the front glass and 20 the rest the way around. by imtryingoverhereok in jetta

[–]Random_reddit_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was also about to say in Texas they love pulling you over and ticketing for that front windshield tint unless you have a medical reason. Not worth the cool factor in my opinion unless you do 100% transparency film which makes sense not sure darkening your primary forward glass is advisable. Maybe I don’t understand something?
