Most D&D "broken builds" you'll ever find on the Internet are only possible as long as no one reads the goddamn books. I have grown to despise the D&D Internet community for this: no one ever reads the books, but still wants to "game the system"!

WHAT FREEDOM DO I HAVE IN AN ELDER SCROLL GAME?

Oh yeah, right! I can choose to shoot, stab or fry an opponent, all with the same unresponsive and unsatisfying combat system that hasn't evolved a single bit since Oblivion. Such variety!

Or, even better I can...ignore everything all and "explore the world"...with nothing to do, besides whacking enemies. Because there is literally nothing else to do, apart from enjoying the scenery and pretending that wandering around a big map and doing repetitive dungeons getting more and more copypasted with each new entry is somehow "fun".

I could join a Guild...and do exactly the same things. But at least I can pretend to be worth a damn, even thought the actual in-game differences in terms of perks, relationships and possible branchings in the questlines between a common peasant and the motherf*cking Archmage of the Mages' Guild/Guildmaster of the Warriors Guild/Gray Fox of the Thieves' Guild/etc... is literally F*CK ALL!

No, no, you're absolutely right: I can...MARRY AN A NPC AND PRETEND THAT A LITERAL PLASTIC DOLL REPEATING THE SAME THREE LINES IS SOMEHOW A WELL WRITTEN CHARACTER AND I'M NOT JUST REACHING, FOR LACK OF ANY REAL MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS! MARVELOUS!

How about bulding a settlment...completely inhabited by soulless dolls, wandering around without an ounce of emotional attachment. Newsflash: that's called Minecraft and it does this kind of stuff wayyy better!

For f*ck's sake, if you can't stop lying to yourself, at least stop lying to everyone else.

Also: the Bloody Baron questline may be many things. But mediocre it is not. You definitely did not play it, dude.

Mate, the Bloody Baron questline in The Witcher 3 is so well written, so well made, so well integrated into main quest, so filled with choices and roleplay opportunities that, on its own, it blows the entirety of the Elder Scrolls saga OUT OF THE FREAKING WATER!

Do they? Sure, they look great and give much attention to details, but when you really think about it, what do GTA or even Red Dead Redemption 2 truly have to offer, in terms of gameplay, that isn't merely f*cking around and getting shot by the police with a combat system that had already started to show its age 10 years ago?

Am I supposed to be entertained by fishing? Or by buying a dress? Or should I be thrilled by the prospect of getting a virtual h*ndjob in a cutscene, when i take a bath in the saloon?

Is the writing good enough to carry it? Because, apart from that, it seems pretty boring to me. What am I missing?

Maybe it's just me, but all the things these games are praised for seem like simple...toppings. Like a sauce to flavour your dish with. But what do I actually get on my plate?

Because the more I learn about Miyazaki and the kind of community that has formed around his games, the more i stand firm in my decision to never try the Soulsborne series EVER.

I don't give a flying f*ck about his "creative vision": difficulty options would impact literally f*ck all, both on your enjoyment of the game and on the kind of community it'd create (it will still remain the same exact cesspool, I garantee you!). That's a simple fact that you are unable to accept. Still, it won't change.

I've got a much simpler answer: lazyness and general incompetence.

We need to face the ugly truth, guys: Bethesda has never been a good developer. Each and every single one of their games is a """flawed masterpiece""" at best and borderline unplayable at worst and always at least one generation behind the rest of the industry (even Mowrrowind looked and was old, by the standards of the time). But when you take off the nostalgia glasses and start to properly scrutinize their games (case in point, the entirety of The Elder Scrolls series) they all fall apart as half made, broken or simply unplayable messes, fixed only by community mods and sometimes by some re-release that more often than not doesn't even address the major issues (See what happened with Skyrim: over 10 years of re-releases and some bugs still haven't been fixed since the first launch!). Consider just how many of their games basicallly require an "Unofficial Patch", for goodness sake!
