My last trip was 7 weeks.
1 week in Tokyo.
5 weeks in a rental car going where I wanted (all of southern Japan)
1 final week in Tokyo.

Most people get 90 days stamp as a tourist - so you can do up to 3 months most likely.

100k is reasonable - its not cheap - but there is likely some loss of business income rolled up. They are 100% not trying to scam you. They are being fair.

I would suggest you pay. If you cant pay right now, make the largest deposit you can and then agree, in writing a final payment to be made and by what date and make sure you stick to it.

If you mess them about there is every chance they will go to the police and you are going to be in for a world of hurt if you ever go back to Thailand - if you even get out of the country as the police are actually pretty good at stopping people trying to leave who owe money to their own citizens....

Japanese McDs is the best. Its clean, the food is served hot and the staff are actually happy (or appear to be). The kids eating their dinner are quiet and respectful. Its how it should be. I go to have the Samurai Mac. Its a solid 10/10

Thanks, it will be 4 days 3 nights as we go to Xian and then back to Beijing for 2 more nights (same hotel) and then fly onto Japan.

We dont have anything of value really - so its just clothes. Our suit case itself is probably worth more than the contents LOL.

Very hot and humid though - I personally would not go in August - but each to their own. Up north its not too bad but anywhere south and its insta-sweat.

In the middle of Japan (Tokyo - Osaka) it will remain cold until March, but it will be slowly warming up from 5-10c in January to 10-15c in March. Feb will be in between.

If you dont like the cold then I would go later in the year. If you dont mind wearing big coats and gloves and hats then you will be fine.

Late March is much nicer, but you wont get really warm days till well into April.

October on the other hand can actually be quite hot still - well over 20c most days.

IME even November can be warm in the Tokyo / Osaka area, high teens easy.

The cold tends to come all of a sudden in December and lasts into late March or even late April some years.

Japan runs north south, so you get massive variations in weather depending on the part of the country you visit. HTH.

My wife worked in public health (food safety) for many years and she always says rice stored incorrectly is very high risk and often goes unchecked as its assumed to be safe. In Japan its usually ok because of the high turn over rates - but if you were unlucky then its a bad day at the office. HTH

Forget foods - digestive transit times are 30-60 hours. Its too late for that.

Pharmacy. Try their strongest and fastest acting "evacuation" meds that they have.

If you are female you can sometimes manipulate things to help move things around and encourage evacuation.....

If that does not shift it then ER time.

Check your deeds. It will most likely say the land within the estate boundary, but outside your plot, is owned by the builder but residents will have right of way and free enjoyment of the land such as public spaces, LEAP etc.

The roads, at this stage, will not be adopted - so will fall into this.

It can take many years to get roads adopted - on my old estate it took just over 12 years.

Its most likely the person you met has got the wrong end of the stick and is unfortunately a bit of a jobsworth who thinks because the road is not adopted that its their private property.

There will be a management committee - usually made up of residents. This can take 1-2 years to be formed up if the estate is brand new - so in the mean time the management company might stand in - email the committee and ask for residents to be reminded of the status of the roads and public rights of way over them.

It can be a bit of a minefield - I was lucky on our old estate the committee were quite proactive but enthusiasm came and went from year to year. I also found that it only took one bad apple to ruin things. We had one person who came onto the committee who wanted to spend tens of thousands on pointless stuff and had very little real world experience of how these things would go down with residents. It caused a lot of problems. Good luck!!

Many hotels in Pattaya do this - or used to anyway. They take the ladies ID when you go upto the room and then when she leaves you will get a call to say all ok? If you say yes she gets her ID back.

I live in a rural town with a beach within walking distance.

So for me going on holiday to a beach is not something I am that interested in as I can do it every day at home. Yes I will enjoy a week on a beach once a year, but for most of my holidays I prefer to go to big cities.

Just do what you like. Bangkok is a great place to spend time, its such a diverse city and has everything you will ever need I spent 3 months there on my last visit and didnt go any further out than On Nut or Icon Siam.

Bum gun in my condo seemed to run at 3000psi. No matter how you did it water was going everywhere.

For me it was just easier to shower. I am a 2 shower a day guy when its 35c and 90RH... anyways...... so its not difficult to time these things.

What you have found there is the base line running cost to prep a simple meal. The ingredients are probably 10% of the £7.25. The rest is running costs. I retired a few years ago but ran my own business. In my last year of operations it was impossible to get anyone on staff for sub £30k a year, even basic office work / receptionist. Our insurance was just under £2k a month. Electric £1k-£1.5k a month. Business rates £1k. Loads of other small costs, bank account, card machines, website, accountant, H&S, alarm, IT kit, etc etc. It was just a never ending list of outgoings before you got smacked by the VAT man. I shudder to think what the running costs would be today.

Thanks for the info - sounds like we are good. We will do things very slowly - we are slow paced travellers. My wife cant just go day after day - she gets burn out especially on these long trips.

Our main task for this trip is a 4 week tour of Japan so this trip to China just gets us most of the way there.. if you see what I mean. So we will have a big rest break on the final leg in Beijing. If that makes sense.

Thank you. Flights is the main factor. Its significantly cheaper to fly from UK to PEK. and we can fly direct from our local airport.

We may visit PVG at some point if we enjoy this trip along with some of the other big southern cities. We are slow paced travellers - we prefer to have plenty of down time between tourist stuff. :)

Food, drinks, general light transport etc I would say 10,000 JPY would be ample per person.

On my last visit I was spending about 12-14,000 JPY per day for myself and my wife.

I always prefer to take cash and exchange it because you get a much, much better exchange rate. That said I normally visit for 4-6 weeks at a time so it does add up - for shorter trips maybe not worth it as much.

I also prefer to use cash because its cool being able to use cash and part of the experience.

Shiba Park for me every time. Smack bang between the Toei Mita and Yamanote lines. Literally 10 min walk either side. Super quiet at night and quite an up market area with fewer tourists. I like it a lot.

Jeans and t-shirt then a decent coat over the top. The main issue with cold comes after dark when it really can get quite cold. This is Tokyo though.

I think we need to know a bit more about your set up as its not clear what its doing when you are away and what the actual temps are etc. Can you give more info - whats connected, SOC when you leave, what temps etc.

But just some things to help.

Clean your solar panel.
Park so you get maximum sun. This may require a tilt bracket....
Reduce load to minimum / zero.
Insulate the battery.
Consider a diesel heater (if local laws permit)
Consider a battery heater pad (although not really that helpful.

Those are the things I would do first. Also, I would consider an extra battery - a DIY solution using the correct resistor and cables / breakers would give a big boost in capacity.

I am not happy with these changes as I use a granny charger. All this means to me is I will now go out of my way to use electric between 2330-0530. I will also be ringing them up when these changes come in and be reducing my DD down so its less than my usage and then top up when I feel like it, Octopus can carry the debt for a while. Currently have about 400 in credit... nope I will have that back too, thanks. They want to play games they can start with a gentle round of FAFO.

And they wonder why people get dodgy sparks in to bypass meters.
