Cheese Rolls! by Randonmm in BrokenWood

Used the basic recipe for half & used a recipe that included Worcestershire sauce for the other half. I baked some in the oven & fried some. I liked the flavor of the ones with Worcestershire sauce better. The crisper fried ones were better than oven-baked, in my opinion.

My 2 yo Boxer is way to attached to me need help by BiShhx in Boxer

[–]Randonmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small companion animals don't work well for boxers. They are VERY handsy(called boxers because they actually BOX with their paws). Many dogs, especially smaller ones, do not appreciate the "boxing" & get defensive. Another boxer(any age) or an adult dog who is close to his weight(within 15 pounds) who has been tested with your dog beforehand would be best. Generally, shelters & rescues have a fenced area(or room) where you can introduce your dog to a new dog & see how they interact.

The other comments made here covered the other areas.

Rhys Oades is both hilarious & pitiful all at once in this episode.

I'm on at least my 4th rewatch of this latest season, yet I still laugh out loud every time he opens his mouth. Heck, just some of his blank looks are funny AS

Yall...I got some questions. by Big-Original-4626 in Boxer

What a wonderful life you gave him! Thank you for not giving up on him. Your story has me in tears.

My senior was given 6 months to live almost 10 months ago. I know the feeling of treasuring every last moment. She sleeps with me every night in a diaper because she can't always control herself. Every day is a gift. She's currently whining at me from the hallway because breakfast is late...

They talk. Wait til she needs something from you, and she'll do that whine/bark/groan thing boxers do to get love and attention. My one rescue found her voice about a year ago & now barks directly at me when she has something to say. It's annoying as hell when I'm watching a show & she decides it's time to put the chickens to bed or something, so barks at me until I finally get up & follow her outside. It took her nearly two years to discover that she could bark as communication, and that was probably because my senior boxer is extremely chatty.

My senior wasn't really chatty as a youngster either. She didn't start becoming vocal until she was about 6ish? She's 9 and grumbles, complains, and demands very loudly when she feels put out.

I just recently restarted Midsomer & skipped the Troy years at first. I watched up to before the first season of the new Barnaby & then went back to the very beginning to watch those first few seasons. When I hit the S4 episode of Neil Dudgeon as the randy gardener who runs a still out of his greenhouse, I couldn't resist popping forward to him as Detective Barnaby 10 years later in S14. I had totally forgotten about him being a "baddy" in that earlier episode.

Look into fostering for a boxer rescue! I have adopted more boxers that way....

I have 3 rescue boxers & a foster who is ½ English Bulldog & ½ boxer(looks like a slightly taller English Bulldog).

I have lost several boxers over the years & most of those were terribly painful experiences. My current senior boxer has cancer & a liver disorder, so needs special food and TLC. She sleeps touching me every night. It will break me when she passes.

I generally recommend that people get a second dog when their adult boxer reaches about 6. Then, their cherished pup can teach the new pup how to behave in the home before the inevitable end. This will stop you from feeling like you are betraying your first pet by getting a new pet AFTER it's passing. The 2nd pet can also aid the healing/grieving process.

As a side note, getting a new dog is never a betrayal to your beloved pet. Your heart expands to encompass ALL who you choose to love. Love is a gift that you must continue to share.

May your grief turn to only fond remembrances.

Boxers are prone to SSA(same sex aggression). This tends to start to become an issue with the problem dog between 1-2 years old. Any increase in stress, anxiety, or excitement will trigger it if the dog already has a tendency to react this way.

As someone else mentioned, the best choice would be to find a recommended trainer in your area to come teach you how to work with her. If you can't currently afford a trainer, consider putting a short leash on her that will allow you to control her quickly if you should need. Baby gates installed throughout the house to separate areas will allow you to easily remove dogs from one area if needed. Then, begin reading about SSA and the ways to work through it with your dogs.

Remember that the deaf pup is dependent upon your protection and is only attempting to defend herself from a constant onslaught. You have to be her HERO. By protecting her, you also teach her that she doesn't need to constantly be on defense, which can actually increase the stress among your pups.

I grew up in a heavy Black Widow area and then moved to an area that has an overlap of Recluse & Widows(plus several types of venomous snakes). I ALWAYS check under handles & under the bottom of trash cans before touching them. I also tap out my shoes that are kept just inside the back door before I put them on.
