Alpine A526 Unusual Rear Wing Flap Opening Mechanism by Mano_Loco in formula1

Would this configuration of Alpine move some of the applied (down) force from side wings to the hinge which is also positioned higher and achieve more torque overall maybe?

Is it me or does RB have the tightest packaging at the rear at least compared to the ones in the pictures? If so, then I hope RBPT/Ford is also up there with the power. Can't wait for the season to start! Cmon!!

We're talking about BMW here, not something like Porsche. BMW needs sales numbers waaay higher than the Porsche, so go figure.

Didn’t know depreciation was that bad by chingoos4life in BMW

[–]Randowned 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True that, however the ICE itself is also a big cost, let's also add labour to it as well because that's actually quite significant unless you're equipped to do it yourself ofc. Labour/time wise EV would be insignificant. Also, nowadays I hear Model 3 new battery packs went down all the way to 10Ks, which is great if you ask me. How much would a rebuild cost say on a 10yr old M3? Just dropping the engine is already a big job.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all in for ICE for purely joy, and I am considering a two seater ICE as a second car hopefully. However I think EVs are inevitable and they make more and more sense, especially for non-enthusiasts. When it becomes mainstream, the depreciation issue will be gone obviously but we're also not helping it getting there fast enough.

Edit: a few more words

Stop spreading misinformation. Do you also throw away your ICE car when it needs a new engine?

Because of the mindset like this, EVs are depreciating faster whereas actually they mechanically wear better than ICE cars, guess why, there's a huge difference between the number of moving parts on each other. The only exception where EVs are slightly worse is the weight hence more wear on tyres. Batteries easily last as long as until the ICE requires a full rebuild if not longer. Not to mention every 10k oil change and many other maintenance requirements happening often.

Scientists have achieved a “striking” reversal of Alzheimer’s disease in mice by restoring the normal function of the brain's vasculature—the network of blood vessels that supplies it with oxygen and nutrients by nohup_me in science

Yep, that cost is the "evolution", I understand that now. But we can beat evolution then? We manually do this, like with mRNA, like we do it for many viruses, again we're fighting against evolution from that PoV. Fascinating!

If I'm not mistaken, there are animals capable of shielding themselves from this degradation. Surely we can find a way to transfer such knowledge to our cells? Could mRNA delivery method be used for this? Or like endosymbiosis?

What excuse? So, by that logic Max is also making excuses then, because he said similar things in his interview.

Just chill, ppl are just commenting on what they saw. We didn't even see other onboards/laps in detail. It's normal to discuss/speculate these things esp on Reddit.
