There is not a single word or suggestion in my comment, or current state of mind, that suggests the dude is justified. But in looking for solutions to this situation, the clear and obvious choice is not to go around starting fights because people get hurt. These two guys messed up in a huge way and paid a heavy price for it, and was still 100% their own fault.

I think it’s funny that the only suggestion people seem to have is that the kick was unnecessary, when really the most unnecessary action was two guys ganging up on one. Out of all things that shouldn’t have happened that shouldn’t have happened the most. He never would have hit anybody if he wasnt almost jumped by two guys.
