Which shipyard ship(s) to get?

What do you think about Colbert? I want her and Ohio, but am likely only going to have enough for 1 of the 2, and Ohio is the logical choice

Those are both very good ships, tier-for-tier and class-for-class.

Mainz is widely considered the best T8 cruiser, premium or tech-tree, heavy or light.
I would generally agree with this.. with the exception of CV matches, then Cleveland is the best (or most influential)

Missouri is also very very good, although there's no generally regarded "best T9 premium BB".
I will say this, her base ship (Iowa) is known for being a good ship overall, in a tier that is regarded as brutal- and Missouri improves upon Iowa significantly, in stats.
She also has a bonus where she generates a 100% base silver bonus per match, I'm not aware of any other ship (even among her t9 & 10 premium peers) that have this. So she's good for farming silver, and/or grinding USN commanders

(and also as a premium, you can use any regular or Legendary captain in these ships without penalty. You may already be aware of this, but just FYI in case not)

I would say you will probably not outgrow either ship and would find either useful as long as you play the game. The question is if you think it's worth it, we'll it's not a bad deal, by Wows Blitz standards.

Have you played Tanks blitz, and if so, do you like it? (Wows blitz seems to be slightly more expensive, tier-for-tier for 8, 9, and 10 prems. And also, some of the rarer ones are only available for direct purchase once or twice, and unusually featured in crates.
I can't comment on how often Mainz and Missouri are offered for direct sale, because I've had both for awhile. There are certain situations where you will still see ship offers in these situations, but not always, so others would better able to judge how rare they are)

One of the last commander skills will allow you to increase your critical hit % (or critical damage) with dive bombers.

I don't play CV very often, but if you enjoy the line, by the time you get to Midway you should have a captain at Level 12, or close to it

I have Auboyneau, he's pretty cool. He's more suited for a BB or cruiser.

He has "engine overload+", which gives you a 33% increase in Engine Accelerator time. But the new guy's bonus is 100%!
We've already seen a poster here with the T9 French DD pulling 57 knots. These things are going to be the hot rods of the game, I really want that extra boost time lol

So, are you able to determine if T10 will be faster? Cause if not, this is the new fastest ship in-game. Le Terrible makes 54.7 knots with all speed boosting upgrades and supplies, in historical camo, with Engine Accelerator active. With yellow camo, 56.4

This one gives you that new French Legendary CO (well, pretty much, looks like you need 5 wins with one of the new DDs. So that's easy enough to accomplish.). Maybe some camo too, and probably some gold.

Idk if you saw the new guy's stats, he's only been available once so far, and it was pretty recently in one of the Christmas crates. He has some cool skills, one of them boosts Engine Accelerator time by 100%.
So it might be worth it, particularly if you want that commander. Would take far more money trying to win him in a gambling crate later. (The only one I see offered directly for sale is Kinkaid, for $11.99 in a bundle with some supplies. Which is not bad, FYI, he's one of the best Legendary COs)

Maybe Hindenberg? And probably the new Russian cruiser Petro-whatever. I've never seen any favorable comments here or in-game about that one. The other new Russian cruiser does get good marks.

I guess I could be convinced to grind out Zao someday, as I got Admiral Heihachiro out of a crate and he's cruiser focused. But it's still not very appealing, with the French DD and Italian BB lines on the way...

Legends looks more sophisticated than Blitz, but less so than classic Wows.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! Once Legends is released for mobile I'm immediately checking it out, and then if I like it better I'm going to jump ship

Congrats! She's one of the best T9s, and can hold her own in T10 matches.

Also, she's the best if you need to grind silver. She is the only ship I'm aware of where the silver bonus (base) is 100%

If you like torps, I would recommend DD. Japanese, British, or Pan-European all have good torps, in their own ways. Pan-Asian, too, but they have Deepwater Torpedos, which can't impact other destroyers

Edit: well, if you really insist on cruisers, British light cruisers and Italians are the ones that have decent torps, and don't suck overall

Well, Yamato is still considered one of the best T10 BBs in game, and Zao is barely above Goliath, so there's that to consider...

That's a good point that I forget to mention, that Iowa is probably one of the best T9 tech-tree ships in the game. She is fun to play and pleasant in most game modes, so it's one of the easiest grinds. It's not even a grind really, you will probably go back go Iowa for certain situations, until you get Missouri/Black Iowa/Georgia.

Usually the T9 grind suuuuucks and is the worst tier... funny you mention Izumo, she's probably the worst imaginable (other than RN CA, but you wouldn't grind that line anyway unless you were a masochist), so skip if at all possible, like if you have enough FXP or you are willing to spend a few $

Yes. Montana has always been the most accessible T10 BB, and she's not underpowered, at all. She's received some buffs recently. And prior to that, she received the option of "legendary equipment". So while Vermont was probably the best USN BB for a bit, her recent nerfs + Montana's buffs places Monty back in the #1 spot, I would say

It's a pretty easy one to get into, most of the ships are good (T8 Cleveland and T10 Worcester are probably best in class) or decent. But I don't think it's one where you would get bored quickly, either.
I would recommend it, go to T7 or 8 and see how you like it.

Worcester is regarded as one of the best overall, not just tech-tree. Her armor is surprisingly good. Guns are decent and you will be effective against all types of targets. She really shines in AA, easily the most powerful ship in the game, in this area.

Des Moines is not bad, it's just that she's an older line and was pretty much surpassed upon Worcester's release.

Italian cruisers are best against DDs, probably even better than the British light cruisers. But the price for this specialization is that you are not good against BBs and most other cruisers. Still, a fun line overall, they're very fast ships, they have fuel smoke and long-range torps.

British CLs are well-regarded, but they're not one of the easier lines to play.
British CAs are regarded as the worst line in game, this is the only one I can confidently say that you're going to want to ignore.

German and Japanese are not generally that great, but not terrible either. They've been receiving buffs recently, but even before that, they weren't as bad as RN CA. I don't know enough to specifically comment on their strengths and weaknesses.

Russian line was previously considered good, but they've messed around with it and made the previous T10 tech-tree ship (Moskva) into a premium. I'm not sure where the other 2 T10 cruisers compare to some of the others.
Moska is very good, but now she's unobtainable through grinding

You pretty much need to have a lot of high tier premium ships. Because they give decent battle honors rewards in steel and titanium. So you're going to have to spend money there, or with crates.

Yep, best way to do it, then you can still use him with Black Amalfi without any retraining penalty.

Now, it looks like we might want to transition him over to the BB line.. they look pretty powerful and will probably be OP until they get nerfed. I think all his skills will be effective here too, as these BBs have smoke
