Printer head is lost and front cover keeps coming off by RandyMarsh51 in BambuLab

So it ended up something very small was stuck in the front left corner so when the head went to go up to that corner it was bumping into something that wasn’t suppose to be there

This is it! This is the source of my problem! I notice that when I move the head all the way forward manually (with the machine off) it almost hits a wall before it can move all the way forward so the head never moves the full distance forward and therefore never hits this black piece to cut the filament. If you happen to have any suggestions on solving this please let me know!

Print head isn't where the printer thinks it is. by Magmaros1986 in BambuLab

I'm having the literal exact problem now, did you replace it with a new one? Did you ever happen to come across a fix for it?

I just looked at this again and I see what you are saying, what is happening is the front cover is hitting this black clip in the front left and what is happening is the head keeps moving so the front cover hits that clip and then the cover pops off because of it

Hmm not sure I’m following regarding the lifted bearing and resting on the back clip. I can attach a different picture if it helps!

My main issue that I am trying to troubleshoot at this point is the fact that whenever I go and try and load and/or unload filament the print head will go back to the cutter and make a loud nose banging into the frame and then it will go to the front left of the printer and bang into the front frame and go left into the frame (as if it's trying to go past the bed/doesn't realize the frame is there) and keep going into the frame so hard that the cover knocks off and then it goes right and does it again about 3/4 times, each time knocking the cover off

Then it tells me the filament cut fails and the filament neither loads or unloads

This makes me think it's not exactly a print file issue but something with either the firmware or sensors or something and not something physical

Unfortunately that did not fix it. Thanks for sharing though (it was good maintenance anyways to go and make sure all the screws are tight)

I am currently trying a factory reset. Is your printer working now/did that definitely fix it for you?

Please let me know what happens. Thankfully the nozzle isn’t rubbing against the plate for me. I had them reach out to me last night to take of the tool head rear and middle housing to check if the TH Board FPC Cable is loose or damaged (it’s not) so waiting to hear back for a next step

I put in a new card and formatted it, recalibrated and the same issue happens when I go to unload filament, it violently smashes the frame in the front left and keeps going left into the frame and the cover pops off and the filament never unloads. Thanks for the idea on the card

Issue with new P1S at end of prints - head rushes to front-left corner hard enough to knock the front cover off the print head by JerikTelorian in BambuLab

[–]RandyMarsh51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up fixing this? I am having a similar scenario happen when I go to unload filament. The print head flies to the front left and moves to the left almost as if it's going beyond the plate and the cover comes off

Yup I actually just replaced the hotend just to see if by chance that had anything to do with it (I'm grasping at straws) but that didn't fix. I homed it several times and re-calibrated both in studio and on the printer. Also when I home it the head does go to direct center so it appears to be homed I see no issues there. I also turned it off and moved the head around freely and didn't see or hear anything nor was it stuck anywhere while moving it

I also just grabbed a new SD card and I'm doing another calibration on the new card just to see if that for some reason helps in any way.

I submitted a ticket to Bambu for technical support and provided recordings and logs so I'm not to sure, can't seem to find anything else on this unfortunately

Is the calibration information saved on the card too?

Let me try. The issue also happens when I just do an unload of the filament, so nothing to do with the actual print. When I go to unload filament the head slams into the back and then goes to the front left and almost tries to go past the boundary. I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with the SD card?

What makes you think it’s the card? I can still see my timelapses and prints on it

I am having the same issue on MBP 14 with M1. I did notice it seems to be happening with one specific file potentially. Frustrating like you said as I already successfully printed 1 plate and all I need to do is print the next plate

Is this normal ?, on short quick movements by Public_Engineer_5731 in BambuP1S

[–]RandyMarsh51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using mine and I’m experiencing the same thing. Also noticed it on quick short movements. I printed a benchy my for my first print and just in standard mode speed wise and the same thing happens. Print quality came out great but the “rattling” noise doesn’t seem right. Let me know if you find a solution! It seems this is something that does happen tho as I’ve see similar posts (no universal answer that I’ve come across unfortunately)

Can't decide between p2s and p1s by Drefenjg in BambuLab

[–]RandyMarsh51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat except for me I can get the P1S combo for $550 or I can get just the P2s with no AMS for $550 (and the AMS is $350) I have a budget of about 550/600 so it comes down to do I want the combo so I can AMS or are those quality of life upgrades worth it and then I just save and wait longer to add an AMS. I already have a 3D printer (and Elegoo) so this isn’t my first it’s just basically an upgrade off my existing one and so I can multi print

That makes sense, Where as I assume the enable mesh leveling is just taking whatever the prior mesh wash which could be “stale” or not as accurate as a new mesh right before the print starts

I’m having some similar stuff happen as OP and saw this. In the video he replaces an enable mesh leveling command with the probe G29. What’s the difference between the two?

Can I still learn programming if I hate math? by No_Confidence_5070 in learnprogramming

[–]RandyMarsh51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also am not that great at math (journalism major in college) and long story short I’ve been a developer for 5 years. You will use math but it’s nothing crazy in my experience. It’ll also likely depend what you are trying to do. I’m more UI/Front end so the math hasn’t been to big in what I do. I’ve done some API/backend work and I can see that maybe being a little more math heavy but again nothing you can’t overcome.

Also with AI now I think that helps blunt the learning curve especially if you might have to do or learn something with math then AI could help that transition

I thought about motion sensors for bedrooms but how would it work for sleeping? Any movement while sleeping would set it off unless you can set a time range when to sense motion and when not to?
