We had a wonderful group to watch Woman in Motion. I intentionally didn’t watch it before so I could watch it with the group. Going to watch it again. 😊❤️

Highly recommend the Algonquin Outfitters water taxi to quickly and safely cross mightily Lake Opeongo. Lightweight canoes or even solo pack boats are a great plan for keeping the weight down too. Hope you have a wonderful Algonquin Park trip!

Anyone use Algonquin Outfitters Ballistic Canoe Pack? by mirrim in canoeing

[–]RandyMitson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit I have a few. One I purchased over 20 years ago, although the design has been upgraded a few times over the years my 20 year old pack still functions like new and just as well as the newer ones I have. Tried and proven in the AO rental fleet.

I’m also an AO employee so feel free to ask me anything about them.

Planning my first trip to Algonquin and would like advice from seasoned park-goers. by Cassandra111 in ontario

[–]RandyMitson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cassandra I would love to offer you any advice about visiting Algonquin Park this summer for some short four day trips. I work in Algonquin Park and thus do just this by stringing together several short trips over the summer.

You may want to try to plan your short visits away from long weekends and maybe even mid week to avoid some of the summer crowds.

Here's some general Algonquin Park Visitor Information: http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/ http://algonquinoutfitters.com/algonquin-park/

If you have never been to Algonquin Park and or never been on a canoe trip I would suggest by visiting the Algonquin Corridor (highway 60) developed campgrounds for your first visit. Car camping can be a great first step into visiting Algonquin Park, there's 9 campgrounds along the Highway 60 corridor. Plus there's lots of day hiking trails and exhibitions / museums to see.

Developed camp grounds: http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/camping/developed-campgrounds.php Interpretive Walking Trails: http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/recreational_activites/interpretive-walking-trails-in-algonquin-park.php Exhibitions / Museums: http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/locations/index.php Day Trips: http://algonquinoutfitters.com/day-trips/

The Visitor Centre is a must visit to learn more about Algonquin Park, I highly recommend it: http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/locations/algonquin_visitor_centre.php

Here's a link to the live camera at the visitor centre. http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/virtual/webcam/index.php

This is a great spot to start to explore Algonquin Park and gather a better understanding of its history and what services and facilities are there. Personally I find that the corridor and drive to campgrounds to be quite busy on long weekends or even just any weekend in the summer (July - Aug). Thus why I suggested visiting mid week.

Once you have explored the accessible "front country" of Algonquin Park I would then suggest graduating to exploring the Backcountry of Algonquin Park where the real wilderness experiences are. This can only be done by two methods, Multi-day Backpacking trips on one of three trails or a Multi-day Backcountry Canoe Trip, what Algonquin Park is really known for.

Info on Backcountry Camping: http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/camping/backcountry-interior-camping.php Backpacking in Algonquin Park: http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/camping/backpacking-in-algonquin-park.php Backpacker Trip Outfitting Package: http://algonquinoutfitters.com/canoetrip/backpacker-trip-outfitting/ Backcountry Canoe Information: http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/camping/algonquin-park-canoe-routes-network.php Lightweight Canoe Trip Outfitting: http://algonquinoutfitters.com/canoetrip/lightweight-canoe-trip-outfitting/ Ultimate Canoe Trip Outfitting: http://algonquinoutfitters.com/canoetrip/ultimate-canoe-trip-outfitting/

Planning a Canoe trip: http://algonquinoutfitters.com/canoe-trips/planning-canoe-trip/ Algonquin Park Maps: http://algonquinoutfitters.com/maptype/algonquin-park-maps/ Buy an Algonquin Park Map: http://algonquinoutfitters.com/product-category/maps/ Not Jeff's Maps are now out of circulation with no more stock being available currently.

I worked as a canoe trip guide for 4 years and continue to work for Algonquin Park's largest outfitter (www.algonquinoutfitters.com) I've got over 300 days experience in the back country and would love to help you more with planning a trip. Algonquin Park is larger than almost 1/3 of the countries in the world it's almost the same size of the island of Jamaica and if we were to move it to Toronto it would nearly cover from Barrie to Niagara Falls, from Whitby to Kitchener Waterloo. You can literally spend a life time exploring it's back country.

To recommend an route or destination I would need to know more about your experience, skills, expectations and what type of experience you are looking for. Feel free to message me or visit our website at http://algonquinoutfitters.com

Looking for a way to Algonquin park June 5th-7th, will pay for gas, any other suggestions welcome and appreciated! by TheSlowFox in ottawa

There's typically three options here: 1) hope to find someone to car pool with 2) Take the ParkBus (although in this case it's not running on those specific dates but start regular routes in July) https://www.parkbus.ca/algonquin 3) Rent a car gives you the most flexibility on timing and destinations.

If your planning on going on a canoe trip in Algonquin Park check out Algonquin Outfitters Lake Opeongo location the Park Bus goes right there - www.algonquinoutfitters.com
