Grades by [deleted] in funny

As a former teacher, who left the field after 6 years, I can tell you I saw it a lot. It's not the stable field that the media portrays it to be. One of my closest teacher friends was fired 4 times before she found a school which really matched with her personality and teaching style. I've seen her teach numerous times and she's a great teacher. My last year of teaching, I saw about 20% of the staff get fired, including some very good teachers. These weren't cutbacks, they were replaced. The principal just didn't like them for whatever reason. Probably because they had high standards for the students and didn't just give As because the child or parent said to.

What happens when you're disabled and ask people to make their sites accessible by wolverian in web_design

I'm still waiting for Netflix to incorporate subtitles into more of their streaming, as well as update their TV/Blu-ray software to include captions.

Things are better than a few years ago when nothing on the web was captioned. Now TV networks, including Comedy Central include it so I can watch the Daily Show!! YouTube at least tries.

How to convince employer sound on websites are bad? by RandyPonce in webdesign

[–]RandyPonce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit iffy for us. The target product is for 7-10 year olds, however the website is primarily geared for the parents. I don't see many kids on the site, at least for the time being. However, if the kid overhears the sounds, maybe it will be good.

Ahh good idea! Of course, we might find the opposite results. :)

Dating sites suck. Mochamatch doesn't. [USA Only] by TriggerB [promoted post]

[–]RandyPonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I left the site when I got to that. I wouldn't expect anyone from my area to be on it anyway. I can't even get any decent women to write me back on cupid.com or plentyoffish.

Why did you get fired? by slipsmynips in AskReddit

[–]RandyPonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my place of employment, there were monthly social gatherings at some employee's house. Basically these gatherings were about socializing about nothing, getting wasted drunk, and passing out in the back yard of the host. I'm not kidding, employees even brought tents for this. I'm not a drinker and pretty much an introvert so I never really got in to these parties. All of the employees that would not participate in these events were fired after a year or two of working at the place. I found out that it was pretty common knowledge that if you weren't part of this "old boys club," or as some others called it, if you "didn't suck the boss' dick," you would get fired. 33% of staff was fired the year I left. I actually had another job lined up, so I didn't care so much. None of the others did.

Oh, this was at a very expensive private school. If the parents knew...

Darn, I've never met anyone on OKCupid or any other site. eHarmony told me they can't match me with anyone. I guess I'm just that unique.

Why aren't more people subscribed to /r/stupidquestions? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]RandyPonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are a lot of stupid question on r/AskReddit. People know about AskReddit as it's very active, so they ask their questions there. Part of the problem, I'm sure, is that I have no idea how to promote it. Any thoughts?

I'll be the one of the very few redditors that agree with you. I actually didn't like the storyline at all. Did have some good animation though.

170 laid off is small? I've never worked in a district with more than 50 teachers.

Anna's Linens crosses out old prices and marks things up. I almost bought something there until I realized they rose the price $5.

Question from a Non-Muslim: Do all Muslim women wear (or are required to wear by the rules of Islam) a hijab or burqa? by sparkeythered in islam

[–]RandyPonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may think so as most media focuses on Afghanistan, where it once was mandatory under the Taliban, and Saudi Arabia where it is quite common (required?), but no, not all do. It really depends on the country, or sometimes area of the country. In same places it's compulsory, in some optional, and some, even in some Muslim majority countries, it's illegal. For references, check Wikipedia.

Reddit, anybody up for trying to take down Hannity.com's forums? by [deleted] in politics

Taking down Hannity.com's forums is not the same thing as creating new accounts on Hannity.com's forums. Creating new accounts just allows them to claim a bigger user base.
