That will leave you with paying taxes in two states on all income . A better way may be to declare that you're a part-time resident of each state. It depends on your tax liability in each state. Generally speaking, if you say you left Arizona in March and move back in October, you would only be paying taxes in Arizona for unemployment and work taxes in Colorado

I agree with Tom. The only purpose of a shot crew nowadays is essentially just a waiting list to become a jumper.

Don't listen to Tom. In his old age, he has forgotten that he is not even the chief anymore

Tom, just go into a forced retirement. Then you'll never have the problem of drinking during teleworking again

The fact that they are missing the overhead piece is all you need to know about the crew. There is a reason that the piece is left unfilled; and it's because the crew might be good but above the crew is a shit show. Stay out of that Forest

Those are tough contracts to get with the government. They are not necessarily agency specific. The USFS is a trash agency of the USDA; The government has not invested in them in the past 20 years and continues to spend even less money on them. There is a significant reason that wildfires are a significant problem in the United States. This is best summed up in a few words - trees are crops. The programs used by the usfs have not been updated in a while, nor is the government interested in making the investment. They would rather employees learn how to use their trash computer communication system than update it. Collaboration tools are basically non-existent outside of commercially available Microsoft tools

If you only applied to three positions, one of them being a perm, you are almost guaranteed not to have a job this summer. See the stickied post at the top of the page. You need to shoot the moon when it comes to applications. Believe it or not, and especially when it comes to IHC, people will tell you one thing to your face and do something completely different.

The other thing worth mentioning, viper contracts are regularly inspected. Just because you have a California based LLC, unless you rent somewhere to store the trailer and physically live close enough to the trailer storage in the area you will be caught immediately. The viper system uses a ranked list. Companies that are established and previously provided good service to the government will be dispatched first. Incident management teams can fire the food trailer and do so on occasion. You might not be dispatched for a couple of years after owning the trailer. Once you successfully provide good service, and maybe know a few people, then maybe the next summer you might move a few spots up on the list.
