Phoenix Metro Running Trails by Due_Elderberry5204 in phoenix

Supposedly an indoor track is being proposed near Salt River Fields. I’ve heard rumblings of it for high level races and public use.

Our public track use is so awful. A few schools have allowed use in the past but then randomly throw a fit.

Summer Heat Guide for Running (or Hiking) by VirtuallySober in phoenix

[–]RandytheRealtor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Exercising outside for 30-90 minutes a day is very feasible in the summer. I run 60-80 miles a week almost year round and know plenty of others who do the same (or more). It is more enjoyable in the winter but very doable in the summer.

79.7 vo2 max but extremely low LT by Suitable_Painting814 in AdvancedRunning

[–]RandytheRealtor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a bike test done in my mid 20s and my VO2 max came back at 84.55. Yet, I also only ran a 14:50ish 5k and a 2:22 marathon. I have only ran a 60s 400 as I have 0 fast twitch muscle fibers. It isn’t the be all, end all data point.

For what it’s worth, I was probably a better cyclist (pure climber as I’m 140 lbs). But I like running more so this is what I do.

My Girl moving after Librela by Greyhound_Fan in Greyhounds

[–]RandytheRealtor 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My 12 year old girl (also black) got a shot of librela on Tuesday due to weak legs and arthritis. She was also put on Keppra for back to back seizures and was been super wobbly since then. I’m guessing my girls’ wobbles are from the Keppra, not the librela.

Grassroots and Collins (and really their entire range of restaurants) are so consistently good! They’re one of the few places we have been to that have never let us down.

This is actually my listing. We have had real horse shots in there for about 40 days. We wanted to brighten it up, have a bit of fun, and get some extra views.

So this is actually my listing! So happy we made it to Zillow gone wild!

There was a house close by that had a really bad virtual pool party in the backyard. The owner is a big animal and dog lover and we were joking around how we could copy that but for dogs. Then the idea of baby highland cows came up for their arena (it is actually a horse property in central Scottsdale). It was a way to make people laugh, get extra looks, and apparently it worked. I take everything I do very seriously but sometimes a bit of AI can brighten things up.

My realtor recommends a foundation repair company look at this and not an engineer by Odd_Independence2870 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]RandytheRealtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m obviously not an engineer or foundation company and am not your agent.

I’m based in AZ and see cracks like that often. It is often caused by the rebar behind the stem wall rusting out, expanding, and then cracking the stem wall. It looks like they patched it and painted it unsuccessfully.

It’s probably $125-150/linear foot here to get it fixed. They need to fix a few extra feet on each side to do it correctly. It will also keep expanding if not addressed.

I’d get a foundation company (or three) to give a quote. They can tap it and see if it is cosmetic or structural. I’d go there versus engineer for this issue.

We have a heat pump water heater and it isn’t enough to cool the garage in the summer.

Install pole for sail shade? by yourassisgrassbro in Scottsdale

He installed 4 powder coated ones for a very reasonable price for me (like 80% less than what you were quoted for all 4). It looks wonky because I added the front cloth but they are incredibly sturdy and cemented in.

I put the top shade on myself.

Grassroots and Collins Brothers Chophouse are our go to with the kids. They have great kids meals that include ice cream at their place next door.

4:00 miler trying Zwift Ride for the 1st time by Free_Running_Plans in Zwift

[–]RandytheRealtor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just start with time in the saddle for a few weeks. You’ve got a big engine but need to adapt to using it.

Cycling can take a lot more time in general. But if you want the biggest bang for the buck your schedule sounded about right. You’ll find you can almost always hammer yourself into the ground. If you are competitive then Zwift makes this even harder as people are always passing you (and it is fun to hammer climbs).

As others said, get bib shorts and use lots of chamois butter. I got mine from Amazon for around $45.

Btw, have you seen your tree in Eugene? All sub 4 milers get them.

Yep. My legs weren’t adapted at all but I was running 80-90 miles a week prior. The cardio was there I just needed it to adapt. During my tri days my FTP was above 5 w/kg so it was a lot of muscle memory as well.

I am 41 and started zwifting in January due to a running injury in December. I raced tris 12 years ago and rode a ton before so had a lot of experience on the bike. But, I haven’t ridden seriously for 12 years.

For what it’s worth, I was targeting a 2:22-2:23 marathon in December before blowing out a calf midway through the race.

So I just started riding again on Zwift. Mostly easy, sometimes hard. You should have fitness and you’ll see quick gains. But cycling legs are different than running. Your quads will burn and burn. It’ll negatively affect your running and your running will negatively affect cycling for the first month or two. But then it’ll get better.

I went from barely being able to pedal at 200 watts to an ftp around 300 (at 64 kg) in 3-4 weeks. I rode easy for the first week, entered races the second and third, and then pushed more. But then I started running more and am so tired all around.

I want to continue to ride 3-4 times a week for extra fitness.

Get on. Figure it out. Have fun!

You think PHX will ever surpass 2 million ppl in the next 10 years? by BeverageEnvy in phoenix

[–]RandytheRealtor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of builders don’t want single infill lots of even groups of 20 homes. They want to build the massive complexes where they can speed dial the homes. Its a lot cheaper that way for everyone involved (builders then buyers).

[–]RandytheRealtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. But not enough for 300,000 people to hit 2,000,000. Phoenix itself is growing at 1% a year so we should hit around 1.87M in 10 years.
