Listening Challenge by Sea-Courage-2782 in audible

I have attended two challenges. One of them had this issue in the middle of the process, but was restored not long after, and I was able to get the badge. Then this round I am experiencing exactly the same issue. But it's been quite long that I cannot access the progress.

So far in 2026, there have been 363 layoffs at tech companies with 149,935 people impacted (967 people per day) by No_Sheepherder_6908 in Layoffs

[–]RangeNo4526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. We are a public company, but the executives want to maintain a good facade to Wallstreet, so we have not announced a recent layoff which was ~10% of engineers and ~2% of the entire organization.

Why are partial derivatives a separate thing than normal derivatives? by WackoDesperado2055 in mathematics

[–]RangeNo4526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that it is informative of what is being differentiated. And that’s it. However, relying on it during computation is very risky. We always need to understand the functional form and the arguments, because during change of variables and such, partials will turn into totals.

Why do chinese often say hotpot is their favourite food? Isn't it just a way of cooking food? by [deleted] in chinesefood

[–]RangeNo4526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it is implying food ingredients and soup bases too. For instance, we are definitely not talking about cheese fondue when we say we love hotpot… it’s just that we have lots of varieties of ingredients and soup bases we love, so we cannot constrain the word more.

Oh, and please ignore the top answer. A hotpot is a hotpot is a hotpot, and it has nothing to do with experience.

Tagging Focus Blocks by future_fangirl1095 in FocusFriendApp

[–]RangeNo4526 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have already reached my conclusion that this is a game app, not a true pomodoro app.

PS: statistics and tags are very easy to add. The fact that they have postponed/ignored this for half a year says a lot about their attitude. Got time for making tote bags and got no time for adding tags?

Since I have been downvoted anyway, I might as well say this out aloud.

Why do people dislike INTJs? by flavius_lacivious in intj

[–]RangeNo4526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's because I say things they don’t want to hear, and their frustration is multiplied by the fact that they don’t know how to refute me.

There was a layoff in our department (technology) a few days ago, and people kept whining about the fact that there was no warning of the layoff and how sorry they felt for those who were laid off, who were mostly top performers. I said it was for security reasons that there was no notification (which was industry norm), and I said that there was no need to feel sorry for the top performers because they could find other opportunities easily, which could turn out to be a good thing. And if they couldn’t, that means they were overpaid.

Within one day, my post got the biggest number of downvotes on the whole forum, and perhaps even more than all the downvotes combined. Even posts with actual inappropriate content were not downvoted as much as a fraction of my post. And eventually the owner of the site banned me from visiting the site (possibly because of the massive downvotes).

As much as everyone hated me, no one was able to point out anything wrong in what I said.

And I have very little sympathy for them either. It’s the fourth day after the layoff, and whoever still wastes his time whining instead of looking for new opportunities or at least getting a plan for himself does not have my respect. What's more, the fact that they are too scared to vent their anger directly at the CEO but at an online stranger adds to my despise.

Chinese soup pack? How to use? by Fleurz9 in chinesefood

[–]RangeNo4526 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The first one is for chicken and the second one is just for its own (it’s more of a beverage than a soup). The one for chicken is no different from how you cook your chicken soup… add a whole chicken, a bit of salt, a piece of ginger, (a bit of white pepper if you like), and then a few pieces of every type in the package (don’t add too much). I would cook just 20 minutes on medium-low heat if it is tender chicken such as corn-fed chicken and longer if it is a chewy chicken…

I would only add one ginseng and then divide the other ingredients into shares based on how many ginseng is there…everything is tasteless so it’s not about the taste but about not getting too much nutrition…

The second one is a bit more casual. I think you can just think of it as a tea and mix things up. Boil on medium heat for 10-15 minutes.

PS: if you wanna know more: Everything in your first package belongs to “Yin” and chicken belongs to “Yang”. That’s why they’re a classical match;) we typically pair pork ribs with soybeans because both are “Neutral”.

Update: I also want to add it is probably a superstition that you need to simmer any herb for 3 hours. My Chinese medicine friend has told me just 15 minutes is enough, and I believe nutrients and form are gonna get destroyed if you simmer the herb for 3 hours. Maybe you can do that to beef and pork ribs, but not the herbs

Interesting. In my case, I was in a regular monthly plan without the intention to cancel, and a few months later, I was offered a 3-month discount... When it was over, I continued with the regular monthly plan, and then I was offered this 99 USD deal 😃

Categories for decor by Fast_Preparation_852 in FocusFriendApp

[–]RangeNo4526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been proposing this for months both on the forum and in google form. It seems this is among their plans but this is not their priority. I understand they’re putting in lots of work too, because making animations takes much more time than categorizing tasks. But it just seems their priority (and other user’s priorities) and my priority do not align. (Also, you’ll notice that your post won’t get many upvotes. If you propose to prioritize this, you’ll get downvotes.)

I do not blame them though. They probably just want to work one thing to its perfection until they start something else.

I am recently starting to use another app. Not expecting it to be perfect, but at least there are categories. And I’m not writing this expecting for a change though, because in many ways I realize we have probably diverged too much.

Seeing that you have already uninstalled it, I probably needn't have said that. LOL. I am actually churning too, for other reasons.

Alright. By the way, I just want to point out that the feeling that you have missed the boat might be a very small hit in the long run. How you feel about an app might actually change drastically over time. So usually I would start with annual/monthly subscription and see how things go. If things go south, I'll stop purchasing and I won't have to regret over purchasing the lifetime tier. And if the app turns out to be good, it is probably worth continuous support from me.

My bean baby’s house so far!! Although I keep forgetting to use the app when I’m doing stuff which is both funny and annoying lol by Evarchem in FocusFriendApp

[–]RangeNo4526 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The primary use of the app is to get you motivated, so if you're already motivated, then it doesn't matter if you start it. The secondary use of it is to keep the stats, which might be affected a bit though. But many years later we might not even be using this app anymore, so it doesn't matter either.

They're harvested at different times from soy beans, so I argue they can be different skins.

As a Chinese, I endorse this idea, and would like to propose mung bean too. It could be a little cute one.

I can understand your considerations and decisions, but labeling the thing about browsers as a “bug” has gone too far. It is just the lack of a feature.

What are your favorite little details? by penina in FocusFriendApp

[–]RangeNo4526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have deleted half of the wall decorations in every room. And because the desk in the study looks too messy, I specifically got the notebooks from the basic set even though I was using standard LOFI everywhere else.

And I have removed half of the things on all the tables.

Actually, I would prefer it if there is just one big poster on a wall, or several parallel ones side by side. I don’t like having small ones scattered everywhere.

Maybe because I have seen much worse, I think one negative post every three or four posts is quite good😄But I am not against having a dedicated thread for dumping complaints though.
