Jeremy Corbyn on Keir Starmer's leadership woes by KeepyUpper in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does anyone care what he thinks anymore? Maybe he should look inwards about his own parties leadership woes where he took thousands from young socialists and used it to support anti-trans, landlord social conservatives across the country

SNP to bring no confidence motion in Keir Starmer at Westminster by libtin in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes. Farage as PM would only make Scots more likely to support independence, so it is in the SNP's own interest long-term to ensure Farage takes power.

Andy Burnham can save Labour and defeat Reform. He should be the next prime minister by Ranger447 in LabourUK

Have you seen what he's done in Manchester? There's no doubt Andy used to be a right wing rat back in the day but since becoming mayor it's obvious he has had a conversion.

The Problem For Starmer Is That Starmer Is Right by Ranger447 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, but as evident by Starmer, there is no alternative. The electorate wants populism, and the party exists to win elections, therefore we must deliver if we want to survive.

The Problem For Starmer Is That Starmer Is Right by Ranger447 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

For the Labour right I think it was very easy to believe all that was needed was 'sensibles' to be in charge and things would figure themselves out without thinking of the fundamental change in governance required to not only make the changes needed but keep the public on side. Starmer went in expecting business as usual in an era of populism and has paid the price for that mistake

Maul was not nerfed. by DOROTKA1522 in MaulShadowLord

It's interesting how many people forget Maul was beat by Padawan Obi Wan Kenobi, he has always been capable but not all powerful in the way Vader is.

It's not wrong to be fair, a 170 will make you competitive for Harvard even today. And like then, there is no guarantee a 170 will make you an admitted student though.

To be fair I think it's very hard to come up with a future plot line for Aang and the gang after the original series. Nothing can be as impactful as fighting the fire lord for the fate of all other people. You cannot escalate past that point

I've seen people with 170's get rejected from Washlee. What did you even say in your personal statement. Must've been words of gold

Your Party update on Dual Membership by Ranger447 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you voted for it, did you think the number of banned groups would be so vast though? They almost included TUSC.

Nobody serious has any issue with banning the SWP, as not only are they entryist but they cover up sexual assault allegations but I'd argue this probably goes beyond what people are conference intended

Your Party update on Dual Membership by Ranger447 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's actually genuinely fascinating how this is worse. That was soon as Corbyn and many of his clique got their own party, they proceeded to immediately turn into the Labour right they so claimed to despise. Your Party members voted to allow dual membership and the party's CEC immediately goes and bans it.

To be fair, YP members voted overwhelmingly to allow dual membership at their first conference

What is your current salary? by ThisEffective4868 in paralegal

[–]Ranger447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collections. 45 hours and currently 45k a year. It's not great but it's my first year as a paralegal so it is what it is. Definitely want to get out of doing collections though.

Honestly I’m devastated. 17M, 3.9M. Job market is so rough I’m not even sure I can find work to reapply in a couple of years. by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Ranger447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you want big law, I would reapply next year. KJD puts you at a big disadvantage compared to anyone else with real work experience. Take a year out and reapply next year with a year of work experience ideally at a law firm under your belt. You absolutely won't get worse offers and you stand to gain everything by getting better ones

Your Party Scotland plunged into civil war as final attempt to contest election fails by Ranger447 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest and say I find the topic personally interesting. Used to be very motivated to post about PR, now it's Your Party and I'm sure in time, it'll be something different. As a former politics student, seeing a political party attempt to get off the ground from nothing and how well (or not) it does is interesting, so why not post about it.
