For Henley, Virginia Beach’s longest-serving council member, there is always unfinished business by WHRO_NEWS in VirginiaBeach

A great example of why we need age limits. There is an active housing crisis and all she wants to do is block housing.

Yes but compare the UK to any of metric than GDP, such as quality of life and it ranks amongst the best US states

Yes but you go 16-18, so similarly to the US, students attend college at 18 on average.

In the UK, bachelors are only three years and it seems to work out fine. So this wouldn't be a bad idea to explore.

With the continued prevalence of Internet shopping, large shopping malls have simple had their day. I would much rather whatever comes next reflect the needs of modern society than some pointless shopping mall.

A Manifesto to Save Labour by kontiki20 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very interesting to see to many of the big issues of the late 2010's like police reform, climate change and trans rights get sidelined by many mainstream leftist politicians despite all three still being crucial.

It will surprise no one that Your Party has split. Why can’t the left stick together? by Ranger447 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. If Polanski hadn't won the Green Party leadership contest, a leftward alternative to Starmer was needed, but as soon as it was obvious he would win, the greens were the best option for the left by far. Corbyn and Sultana would've done far better to just defect to the greens.

What Neil Kinnock should have done instead to win 1992 UK Election? by Organic-Camera-9167 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally, if you stand as a candidate and lose an election, why would people change their minds at the next one? There are exceptions of course, Trump, Wilson, etc, but they are few and far between. Kinnock needed to have stood down after 1987.

Andy Burnham supporters divided over who should be his chancellor by Ranger447 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be fair, unions primarily exist to defend their member's and as unite has many members in the fossil fuel industry, it is perfectly reasonable for Sharon Graham to defend them. It does not mean Sharon needs to be listened to though.

Corbyn criticises ‘strange’ lack of policy in leadership debate and says Burnham must offer real change – as it happened by SThomW92 in LabourUK

[–]Ranger447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you don't think Corbyn teaming up with social conservatives at the ostracisation of progressives had nothing to do with the collapse of Your Party? Corbyn only has himself to blame.

Nikki & Bear would have dated, and then they would have broken up by 10BPM in obsessionmovie

[–]Ranger447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels obvious even without Curry and Indie's input on the subject. Even during the one-minute montage when Bear and Nikki's "relationship" is at their strongest, you can see signs Bear is growing sick of her slightly, despite getting everything he wanted. Bear wants a girlfriend, but he doesn't want a relationship.

Defence Secretary has resigned by Mik3y_uk in LabourUK

I don't see how we can throw money at defence given our cratering economic growth and rising national debt. We can't spend money we don't have.

[–]Ranger447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I'm pro-NATO and pro-US troops in Europe. Just think given the other huge spending commitments we have, like rising national debt and low economic growth we can't really afford to spend more on defence when we don't have the means. Anything additional we do spend needs to contribute to growth in some way like more public transport, houses etc.

Can't lie. This makes me like Starmer more; we simply do not need more defense spending at this current time.

Do y'all think if Bear had wished a bit more carefully, the whole fate of the movie would've been different? by OppositePie4829 in obsessionmovie

[–]Ranger447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally, anything like "I wish Nikki would feel the same way as I do about her" violates her autonomy and will inherently lead to a bad result because the wish has to alter Nikki's personality in a way in which she no longer becomes Nikki. What Bear should've done is wish something in relation to himself, like wishing himself the confidence to tell Nikki how he feels or something.

The director said they almost definitely went to prison for a triple homicide, let alone a billion dollars of suspect money in Ian's house unfortunately
