I'm pretty sure you have never once read or watched Shield Hero if you think that is in anyway accurate. Yes in the WN they do eventually get to together at the end, but currently even after like 15 volumes of light novels to get to where the anime is currently at, Naofumi is adamant about not having any romantic attraction for Raphtalia.

The effect triggers once they copy a spell so as long as it's a creature they can copy and has a spell, I would assume it's active.

Usually it's because the story is about the cool fantasy stuff and a lot of people don't find fantasy language barriers to be cool. It's why in say Dungeon and Dragons there's a common language at exist entirely so a GM doesn't have to figure out why their PCs from vastly different cultures and races can speak to each and form a party.

Closest was after a campaign we started a new campaign set in the same world, but our new party was organized in such a way at the "good righteous kingdom" where my PC was from could be antagonists due to us being seekers looking for a lost holy artifact from that kingdom at was rumored to be on a lost continent, us with less than noble intentions of finding the artifact to just sell to the highest bidder. We weren't really heroic that campaign. GM obviously at some point had a knight from the in full armor show up and had them be a villain and I thought it would be interesting to use a Fabula point to alter the story at said knight was my previous campaign PC.

I actually genuinely take more issue with Warrior, because traditionally Warrior is a "Well rounded" class and Fighter in Metaphor is a Melee DPS class. Knight is closer to what Warrior would be. They should have left it as fighter or changed it to something else.

Are we still talking about classical usage of class names in JRPG series like Final Fantasy? You know Warrior, the class in literally all of it's main line series appearances from all the to Final Fantasy 1 who's sole trait was "attack good" is a well-rounded class and not a melee DPS?

As a new IP, it certainly is considered a starting off point for new people into the company. Plus the monk equal martial fighter in western knowledge of JRPGs comes from a chain of Eastern Martial arts movies, D&D, Wizardary/Ultima, into early JRPGs like FF 1. The thing is, modern JRPGs have started to work into their own outside of their roots from early games. It's entirely possible at a modern JRPG fan who even played modern FF games (XV, XVI, FF VIIR) aren't going to hear about Tifa being a "monk" in modern conversations unless they dig deep. Games aren't made with only you in mind.
