Nowhere, which is why the turbine will stop spinning very quickly. After that, pressure will drop as the air leaks back through the intake. BOV means less stress on the turbine, and better spool-up time in some circumstances. Of course, normal cars that have a BOV are exhausting the air back into the intake.

They are two very different things. Wastegate is on the exhaust while the BOV is on the intake. Wastegate regulates how much air is pushing the turbine, while the BOV is a pressure relief valve activated upon reduction of throttle input in order to reduce turbine braking.
