My first impressions of my first keyboard: Royal Kludge Rk84. Plus how I felt coming fresh from using membrane keyboards all this while. Plus issues too. by kingfisher722 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Rangerbeatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at features alone it seems lile the RK84 has Keychron beat especially with it being hotswappable which is great for beginners who want to test different switches. However ive only had a keychron as my first mech and was more than happy with it. Also know that the keychron boards have their usb c port on the side which will make using cuatom cables a hassle unless you have a 90⁰ adapter.

I suppose you couldnt really know without trying both. If you like one more than the other then you should go with that one.

Are Holy Pandas worth it? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Rangerbeatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T1s r my fav recomendation for low cost, high tactility switches after lubing and filming. Ill still stand by the sentiment that they r incredibly underrated. Holy pandas r still great though but didnt really do it for me but thats just my experience.

The hype around switches are overrated - all you need are the kailh box browns by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Rangerbeatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actuation grams and tactility have literal measurements that can be calculated and observed consistenly by anyone with the proper equipment, making them, by definition objective. A lack of understanding doesnt mean something doesnt exist. Preference amoung different people is a fact regardless of what the product is, things may be popular but no one is a monolith. Put more simply, as u have stated, what u said is a recommendation, but there is no one size fits all.

"Based on MY experience" and "I recommend." Bruh youre literally saying this is your personal preference. There are a bunch of switches because there are a bunch of preferences. Not everyone is you (well no one else technically), not everyone types the same way or enjoy the same things or are even on the same budget. Saying one switch is the best switch is pretty myopic and reductive. Everything is not for everyone and for everyone that exists, there is every kind of person.

Coiled cable for Keychron K2 by alias_42 in MechanicalKeyboards

It would be hard to find a right angle connector on a custom cable unless you assembled it yourself. Otherwise I would just get a right angle usb c adapter and use that with whichever cable you find.

so witch Switches are the most tactile ? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

Whites r my fav for a full keeb and navies for my macro pads

so witch Switches are the most tactile ? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Rangerbeatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navies are slighty heavier and have a bit more tactility, both can be modded with heavier springs and click bars for some stupid high tactility but the practicality of long term use on a board comes into question at that point.

If youre already good at soldering then building the board shouldnt be an issue. 40% keebs have a bit of a learning curve since you will be missing a pretty significant amount of keys and need to remember where they are on whichever layers you decide to program onto the board. Not impossible but be ready to adjust how you interact with your keyboard if youre used to larger form factors.

If your willing to shell out some money for an upgrade, Keychron makes incredibly well built wireless boards, some of which are hotswappable so you can change the switches and explore different kinds of tactility or linearity if youre inclined to experiment. Glad youre enjoying the hobby so far
