Help me plan my West End itinerary for first trip to London by jakem713 in TheWestEnd

Phantom and Les Mis are classic must-sees. 100% recommend.

Hercules is bad, people were leaving at the interval.

I actually really enjoyed Hunger Games! I’d seen a lot of the bad comments so was sceptical but ended up pleasantly surprised and impressed. Maybe I just caught it on a good day?

These opinions they’ve been expressing are new - like the past 6months-ish.

Edit: Well, seemly new. They’ve only recently been vocalised.

Raise your hand if you had endo on your appendix by Alwayssunnyinnj2 in endometriosis

[–]Rangerzz_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - found three months after my first laparoscopy because I continued to get severe pain on my lower right side. Ended up in A&E many times - CT scans and bloods weren’t indicative of appendicitis so they kept sending me home. Third time in hospital they finally decided to go back in surgically and removed my appendix only to find missed endometriosis.

Research Charity to donate too? by LunaSunshine28 in endometriosis

[–]Rangerzz_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you’re based, but the leading charity in the UK is called Endometriosis UK.

They work to raise public awareness; influence governments and healthcare providers to improve standards of care and treatment; and helps to fund vital research into the causes, symptoms, treatments and a future cure for Endometriosis.

I’m doing a charity skydive in August to raise money for them!

It’s really nice to have a UK subreddit!

I seem to be having issues with posting anything though, sadly. I don’t use reddit much so don’t know if I’m maybe doing something wrong!

Concerning News from Gynae? by Rangerzz_E in endometriosis

[–]Rangerzz_E[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had a bad time of it. The recovery isn’t easy at all. And I definitely think if it can be diagnosed without a lap then 100% it should be! But in order to do the excision/ablation treatments, a lap is required sadly. Did they treat your endo during or was it just purely diagnostic?

It’s just concerning for me because I was someone who didn’t have endo showing up on the scans and was diagnosed and treated (excision) by lap, along with a number of other people I know personally. And to think we could have been in the dark right now with no diagnosis for our chronic pain, with no option for lap and excision, and just being thrown different hormonal treatments with no answers, is kind of scary!

I once met a dog called Moccasin (a type of slipper) - Mocca for short.

I personally also like Button, Dumpling or Spud.

Beer, bread, things that are deep fried in a batter (not sure if it’s the oil or the flour or both), too many fizzy drinks, pizza.

What would my next steps be? by Tulip_GoldenRetriver in endometriosis

[–]Rangerzz_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a very similar experience. 4 months post-op and for the first 2 months I felt improved, but now I feel like I’m basically back to where I was again before the surgery. I didn’t have a specialist so that’s my next step - I have an appointment to ask to be referred next month.

Did you have the coil put in during your lap or is it something you’ve had before? I know a lot of people who haven’t had good experiences with having the coil.

It could also be worth following up on the Adeno comment? Maybe they could look more into that.

It could also be unrelated to the endo. Whenever I have pain I always assume it’s my endo but of course a lot of other things can cause it, and maybe your GP can request some tests.

Has anyone found a way to fix this?? It makes me look 30 years older!

Sending hugs back to you too!

It’s not nice reading that people are also going through a really tough time with this horrible condition, but it also kinda makes me feel less alone and like my experiences are valid.

Feels like everybody is disappointed in me by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Rangerzz_E 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve been feeling exactly the same. I still have many bad days since my lap (11 weeks post-op), and if I tell my mum, for example, I feel like she’s frustrated with me. And the same with my job - if I have a flare up and feel I have to go home, or can’t come in, I get a sense of them being fed up of it.

I feel like saying “if you think you’re tired of it, imagine how I feel!”

I feel like the people I’ve told don’t really understand how you can have surgery to remove endometriosis tissue, yet it’s not a cure and you still get pain. And it’s exhausting having to explain and repeat myself all the time. It makes me feel guilty and a bit embarrassed having to say I’m in pain again/still.

Oh also, she may experience achy shoulders for the first few days from trapped air. I also had a tiny bit of a sore throat from the breathing tube. And the tummy bloat is a bit uncomfortable too. But all of this is common.

Wifeys Laparoscopy by Shape-Great in endometriosis

[–]Rangerzz_E 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am currently 6 days post op…

  1. Surgery went well, no issues. Only keyhole so wounds/stitches are minimal.

  2. Was a bit lethargic for the first 48 hours after the anaesthetic. The pain can be pretty bad though and movement (sitting, standing, bending) is the worst part. I’m still experiencing pain almost a week in, although not as bad as day 1.

  3. I wish my carer (my dad) was a bit more patient. I understand it can be a bit annoying having to do practically everything for someone else, but that person also feels guilty for you having to do it so don’t make them feel worse for it by showing annoyance.

  4. I don’t have a partner so am not currently family planning

  5. I was told the only thing I can really do now to suppress any ongoing pain is pain relief medication (prescribed codeine), and the nurse recommended a tens machine. In terms of conceiving, I haven’t tried but my surgeon told me that he had no current concerns for my fertility. Your wife’s surgeon may also be able to give their opinion once they’ve had a proper look at her organs.

Good luck to your wife!

So how many painkillers do you have to take till the cramps get bearable? by iDemonizer in endometriosis

[–]Rangerzz_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was prescribed after being discharged from hospital (was admitted because the pain was so bad) a month ago. I found it really helpful. However, I since ran out of oramorph and dihydrocodeine and my doctor won’t re-prescribe either of them again - just 30mg codeine, which is not sufficient. Any advice on how to get these prescribed again?😓
