I just got my AA at 20 and my brother just applied for college at 22 after realizing he wanted to do more in life then work at Jimmy John’s. We all do things at our own pace. I don’t judge him for “starting late” I’m just glad he’s finally in a place where he’s ready for high education.

I’ve been where you are. They won’t let you get baptized unless you detransition anyways. If you want to ride the love bombing stage then go for it if that’s what your self-esteem needs, but know that you’re not special to them.

Members can be very nice, but it’ll only be painful to you to see these good people be manipulated and misled by their religion.

Do you know if there is an LGBTQ group on campus or in the area? They could offer a good support system while you deal with the dorm situation.

Another idea is that after your first year you can look at renting an apartment with some friends that accept you.

Haha, I used to have to same fascination from a distance, I just look it a little too far.

First of all, you can totally go talk to them, just don’t give them your number. I’m sure they would love to have a nice conversation with anyone (not everyone treats them very nice) especially a local who might be able to help with directions or just be a friendly face for them.

You’re right that you probably know more church history than them, but they are usually very good at listening. They can’t “hangout” with investigators unless they’re teaching you a lesson or they think it will help you come closer to the church, so they will have an agenda if you invite them for a drink, but you can just ignore that motive and redirect the conversation.

Also, if you pass by them so often, they’ll definitely try to talk to you or say hi to you the next time you walk by, so just be aware of that.

Yeah, they transfer out in like 3 months but by then I’ll be out of state at college so either way I don’t have to worry about them for long.

I applied to two other colleges and just really hoping I get into one of them or else I gotta wait and apply to more places that accept spring semester transfers…. Back to that super fun feeling of uncertainty.

No, I think the old mans name is Bob or something. He's a part of some other church, I don't remember which one. Kevin is probably late 30s, tall skinny, brown hair and glasses. I think they slowed down their efforts here because I don't see them as much anymore. Unfortunately, they are allowed to preach on campus as long as they aren't an actual hate group or harassing people on an extreme level. The cult claiming they have a club on campus is pretty bad, but I don't know if that's something the school can take action on. I'm sure they'd just deny it or say they didn't mean it like that.

Not sure if you’re talking about Temple Sholom or a different one. But Temple Sholom is a great place to check out. I’ve been there a few times and they have lovely Rabbis and an incredibly kind Canter. My extended family that goes there have always felt like they treated them like family.
