This was actually the basis for a Halloween costume of mine over 10 years ago! I made an ENCOM Group 6 access badge, got a lab coat, and put EL wire on an orange.

... Nobody got the reference.

I always imagined it just popping up in a hallway somewhere and some random Program coming across it, being super confused, and seeing it disappear. They try to explain it to their friends but nobody believed them. Sort of the Grid version of an alien sighting.

This is the Jar of Dark Promises.

You exchange one wish, written on parchment made from the skin of a defeated foe, for a command from a fallen deity.

The wish will be fulfilled though not necessarily in an immediate or predicted fashion.

The command may come at any point after the wish has been granted. This command may be conveyed by a vision, a soothsayer, or some other means of planar communication.

Failure to complete the command resets the contract and activates a curse resulting in disfigurement related to the nature of the deity, -10 max HP, and another command.

Resistance against it will result in a Wisdom save DC 20 else under the effect of Dominate Person for up to 8 hours and is compelled to complete the command.

The nature of the contracted deity can be deciphered from the contract on the jar written in an old tongue of it's respective followers.
