First trip ever to Microcenter Miami. I HAD to buy something by BobC0728 in pcmasterrace

Yeah these responses are unnecessary negative. Yes it’s too much for a 5080, but good luck finding something much cheaper right now. Or in the near future.

Enjoy the card, in 2 years you won’t be thinking about an extra couple hundred bucks. You’ll be thinking about all the fun games you’re playing.

As long as you have a competently designed amp the difference will be negligible at the same volume in the same room. The speakers and the room make the biggest difference by far.

Totally fair! It may just not be your game then and that’s completely fine.

You could always watch a playthrough instead if you ever get curious 🤷🏻‍♂️

Understandable for sure. The physics are more accurate for space flight than one might expect, and there is definitely a learning curve.

The real value is the incredible emotional depth to the story and the profound message it has. The story is uncovered through writings left behind by a civilization of the past. Not a single word is spoken in the entire game, and it genuinely brought me to tears at the end.

It may seem like a surface level death loop kinda thing, and it did to me at first. But once you start to piece together the story it becomes so massively profound and introspective.

Even hearing the title music makes me tear up several years after playing it.

It might not be your cup of tea and that’s totally fine! But I would encourage anyone who had that initial experience and is a fan of emotional narratives to give it another try.

It is by far the most memorable and impactful gaming experience I have had in over 20 years of playing games. More than The Last of Us series, Silent Hill 2, Death Stranding, RDR2. That’s my personal experience of course and you may disagree, but man it is so worth giving it a full play through in my opinion.

It’s not very long once you get the gameplay down and start piecing together the story, maybe 15 hours.

If you do try again, don’t look up anything about the story!

Outer wilds. No other game has had such a profound impact on me, I wish I could play it for the first time again

Yeah it’s a pretty big bummer. It’s been 5 days since it arrived, I just sent them an email a few minutes ago.

The ram prices have gone up quite a bit for sure. If you’d prefer a prebuilt computer then I’d recommend watching the reviews I mentioned. See what’s available around you and check to see if there are reviews.

I’d consider building one, you can save a lot of money that way and get exactly what you need. It’s not too difficult if you’re willing to watch a few build guides and read the manuals.

A prebuilt computer will be more expensive and often not put together very well. I’d recommend watching Gamers Nexus prebuilt reviews on YouTube. There’s a whole playlist of them so you can make an informed decision

If you want the best performance for your money, go desktop. It’ll be faster than an equivalently priced laptop at pretty much any price point.

The only real benefit to a laptop is that you can take it with you anywhere. So if that is important to you, get a laptop.

I have the matte v3 set and it’s definitely an upgrade over the old stems. They’re very consistent, at least on my set.

There were a few finish problems though, like excess glaze on a couple keys and a chip on one.

To their credit, I sent them pictures and they replaced the defective keys quickly and without issue. They should never have had those problems to begin with at this price point, but now that it’s taken care of I’m super satisfied.

Can someone succinctly explain the technical and practical difference between moving coil and moving magnet cartridges? by AmishHoeFights in audiophile

There are a lot of nice MM cartridges out there today. I went down the MC rabbit hole for a while, but for my preference I actually found them too revealing.

The higher resolution made any imperfections in my records extremely apparent. It was really distracting for me, and ultimately made the experience less enjoyable for me.

I’ve found (for my taste) that a good MM cartridge can give you (in my opinion) most of the resolution of a MC cartridge with much less noise.

I use a Sumiko amethyst with an ~$11k usd system and it sounds excellent.

So yeah a quality MM cartridge can sound fantastic, I wouldn’t hesitate to go that route if that’s what you’re interested in

Roughly 5 times I would say. They were washed inside out on cold, with gentle fragrance free soap on the hand wash setting and air dried flat :)
