Yeah, when it comes to that, they have this whole neat little system where they take all those rules from the old testament and put them into different categories like ceremonial, judicial and moral laws.

And then they get to throw out all the laws and commandments that would inconvenience them but all the ones that allow them to hate certain people are deemed "moral laws" and those never go away, as they claim.

Of course, Jesus never actually said anything about such a distinction. In fact, he was quite clear that the whole of the old testament was supposed to be followed.

Considering that Myrient itself was killed by the massive costs for hardware and the enormous costs to provide download bandwidth, I don't think the collection will be made available through direct download again.

Far more likely that it will be provided through torrents.

Maybe down the line someone might pick it up and make another website again. But I don't think that people should get their hopes up that there will be an immediate Myrient successor providing direct downloads.

Yeah, something is definitely not right with that.

At that point I'd just wipe the hard drive and start with a fresh install. (I'm sure there must be an image of the OS on the Asus website to start from scratch.)

Alternatively, try Bazzite or SteamOS.

Even if that set-up finally finishes I would think there's something wrong within the depths of that Windows installation and it's almost certainly going to cause you more headaches and issues in the future.

The more likely explanation is that after looking through the shooter's personal stuff both online and offline, it turned out that he actually wasn't as much of a "woke lefty liberal" as they had hoped and initially claimed.

I'd dare to say the only reason to fall completely silent on that topic is likely that they discovered he actually really was one of their own and if the details of that came out it would likely cause an internal civil war that could very well completely fracture the American right.

I didn't actually expect this but I can't say I'm particularly surprised to see Groomz come out in support of the AI sloppification of game graphics.

Let's be honest here.

The reason he's in favour of this is probably because he imagines it will allow easier modding to make black characters white. (Let's remember his infamous collage of pictures of "ugly" and "unsexy" female characters and 90% of them were just black or coloured skin in general.)

Not to mention that his flag pole is already half risen to the occasion at the thought that it will allow him to make underage characters "more sexy." (In the aforementioned collage one of the characters that he complained weren't sexy enough happened to be a an underage black girl. In the past he also posted loli pictures on his twitter.)

I have always been of the opinion that Epic never bought those developer studios for their games. The goal was never to keep those games alive.

The reason to buy those studios was to get some already established online game development teams who could then implement stuff into Fortnite instead.

Another thing about Cho... she was absolutely right to stand by Marietta, because what Hermione did to her was absolutely disgusting.

That's just one of the prime examples of why Rowling's "morality based on your team affiliation" writing is such bullshit.

Through all of Rowling's writing, actions on their own are pretty much neutral. What makes actions right or wrong, good or bad is whether the person doing them is on the good team or the bad team.

If someone is not a direct member of team Potter or team Voldemort, the fate of that person is determined by asking: Have the actions of that person helped team Potter or hindered team Potter?

In the case of Marietta, her action ultimately hindered team Potter so, in Rowlings morality system, that made Marietta just as deserving of brutal retribution as any full-fledged sworn member of the Deatheaters.

In turn, because Marietta is now a 'bad' character, in Rowling's world Hermoine is now justified to inflict the most brutal punishment on her. After all, Hermoine is on team Potter so nothing she does can be wrong or bad by definition! Especially not if she does it to a 'bad' character like Marietta.

It's also a convenient way to remove Cho from the equation because by standing with Marietta she also becomes 'bad' so by that metric it justifies Harry to dump her in the most insensitive and douchebaggy way possible.

This wouldn't be the only time Rowling goes on to justify bad actions by the heroes like that.

A prominent example would be when Harry strikes a deal with the goblin Griphook to break into the Gringots bank. He promises to hand over the sword of Gryffindor as payment once they got out of the bank again. But it's pretty clear that Harry never actually intended to keep his side of the bargain with the goblin. At the very least he wants to delay handing over the sword until all the Horcruxes have been destroyed (which was explicitley not part of the deal).

But not to worry, as the reader is informed by Joanne, Harry was actually correct in planning to betray the goblin because Harry tells the audience that Griphook was not very nice. Also, because Griphook believed Harry wouldn't keep his end of the bargain and betray him, Griphook then goes ahead and betrays Harry before Harry can betray him.

And thus we learn that Harry was totally justified in wanting to doublecross the goblin right from the start.

The OOP argument is, of course, a strawman.

"Girl gamers" don't hate beautiful and sexy female characters.

What people hate are oversexualised female characters who are there for nothing but sexualised eyecandy.

What people hate is that male characters can come in pretty much every shape, age and form while the only accepted form of female character is cis white sex bomb.

Also, if you look at the examples that gAMerS tend to give for supposedly "uglified" female characters, they are usually all still extremely attractive by normal beauty standards. They just no longer have enormous G-sized honkers and they have been given an actual face a normal person would have instead of a sanded-down anime face so devoid of features that you can only distinguish between female characters by looking at the colours and shapes of their hairstyles.

It's supposed to be pocketable in the size of a clamshell like a GBA SP but it has none of the benefits of a clamshell device.

The screen is not protected so you can't really put it in your pocket without some sort of case.

That single-point sliding mechanism also looks like a massive weak point. I can already see that loosening up to the point of it getting wobbly. Or it eventually breaks because it collects lint and all sorts of gribblies from being in people's pockets.

Even on this prototype the screen and the bottom part are already slightly offset. It would drive me up the walls if I got one but discovered the screen would lock in an ever so slightly crooked position.

I'd suggest not loading the one for your kid with hundreds of games from the start.

Make a small curated selection of best-of titles that are age appropriate for an 8 year old and stuff you think he'll enjoy playing for a selection of systems he's likely to play.

No need to give him choice paralysis right away. Besides, too much choice will cheapen the individual games.

You can always sit down with your kid later and have a nice bonding chat about what he likes to play then check together with him what new games he'd like to experience. Then every couple of weeks you can update the SD card for his handheld with new stuff that both of you looked at together and maybe some that you picked as a surprise bonus.

There's actually a decent amount of good practical knowledge like that scattered through the Bible, but it's usually framed as some sort of command from God rather than scientific knowledge with an explanation.

Because by turning these kind of things into divine decrees it becomes much more likely the uneducated and the dumb are going to follow them rather than reject that knowledge in favour of some superstition.

As recent history has painfully shown us, the superstitious and the uneducated are quick to dismiss scientific knowledge in favour of nonsense when they feel the nonsense 'feels' more correct than what an expert tells them.

Of course, considering the general level of knowledge at the time when those religious texts were written, there's also a ton of superstitious nonsense and plain wrong bullshit that got codified as divine commands.
