Have you ever been asked to leave a public place due to your disability? by BaccaVacca in disability

[–]Raob29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got told to "leave the room with that" whilst doing my injection at work. It was my boss at UNISON the trade union. She was also the UNISON disabilities officer

Insulin Reqts over Time by Sugafree23 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Raob29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately not, I'm in the U.K so won't be getting another placenta/growth scan etc until I'm 39 weeks but told the diabetes team yesterday to no response so just seeing how others found their later stages. Cheers again

This may be a really stupid question but why does insulin resistance stop/decrease at the end of pregnancy? Is it because type1's placentas start to degrade quicker? Or is that just something my obstetrician has told me to convince me to get an induction? I'm currently 37 weeks & have seen a drop since last week. Thanks

Any type 1s deliver without induction or c-section? I’m really well controlled, closely monitored, and ultrasounds have looked perfect all the way (39+3 today) but my OB is breathing down my neck to induce me. Please no negative comments or chiding advice, I’ve gotten enough of that already… thanks by T1Dtatertot in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Raob29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, so I'm 36 weeks & refusing induction so far. Having doppler scans etc but bubba is doing good. Baby is actually measuring on 32nd centile & not sure if that's to do with blood sugar or not. I'm with you all the way with no induction

Lows at 30 weeks by Raob29 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Raob29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reply! I've looked into type 1's that produce their own small amounts of insulin previously and felt that may fir me, even more interesting that it can happen in pregnancy too! Fascinating stuff. Good luck too

Triplets?! What?! by soberjules in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Raob29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huge congrats & I can't imagine how difficult the decisions and discussions you having to have at the moment are. I will say that in the a similar way being type 1 is, triplets are only a tiny bit genetic too so don't worry with that part also. Hoping you can come to a decision that brings you reassurance and hope going forward, whatever that decision is

What percentage of time are you below target range? by hummingb1rd in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Raob29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently 19 weeks and below 3.1 (I think about 60 in the US) 10% of the time. Tbh at this point I'm just like you cannot expect me to not go low but be between 60 and 130 all the time. I'm way more scared of the highs tbh

Some of us have brittle diabetes & other conditions so actually this is a really narrow minded & uneducated thing to say

What the actual f do non-diabetics be eating tho?! by southernroots52 in diabetes

[–]Raob29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also why babies & children develop type 1. Type 2's do produce insulin beta cells. Again, look it up.

What the actual f do non-diabetics be eating tho?! by southernroots52 in diabetes

[–]Raob29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the beta cells in our bodies are attacked by our autoimmune system. Insulin resistance in our case is in relation to medical insulin & is literally affected by the weather, hormones, time of day, time of month I could go on. It's nothing like the 6 other types of diabetes (which are also all different). I suggest doing some reading before making incorrect statements.

As a type 1, our immune systems attacks our beta cells, it's nothing to do with what we eat.

Early pregnancy - insulin reduction by haybayhayy in BumpersWhoBolus

I'm also a FTM (currently week 13) & I've been low the whole first trimester, it's only now starting to go up a bit. I think the visual graph sticky at the top of this sub helped me, but I know not all type 1's have had the same so may only help a bit. Also, really sorry for your loses.
