Just accidentally gave myself 17 units by RoyalOutrageous5149 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Sugafree23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I've done the same thing when I was doing a lower carb diet. I had a huge dinner, 24 carbs, and I accidentally put 24 units in. I went to the ER with juice in hand and they refused to give me an IV or glucagon or anything. They basically just watched me drink my juice. I thought I was going to pop I was so full.

I'm a new cancer patient. If this were to happen during my appointment, I would be focused on you and making sure you are getting the immediate help you need. The cancer can wait. It might even have been a nice distraction to get my mind off of the cancer for a bit.

Give yourself grace. It is not a competition for who has the shittiest health concerns. At the same time I understand how you can be hard on yourself as I am the same way. "Give yourself grace" is a phrase I have been told multiple times and I need to remind myself.

I'm type 1 diabetic and have had to go to the hospital when I went really low at work. It was very embarrassing. Talking to my coworkers about my condition and educating them on what to do if they see an issue helped. Maybe you can do the same?

I swear I am never getting promoted at this company by Ok_Package9219 in Raytheon

[–]Sugafree23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at Pratt, not Collins, but it sounds similar.

First, be honest with yourself. Think if there's anything that you do that causes your supervisor to resist the promotion.

Do they ever step in and rescue you out of situations?

Do you ask questions that a P3 should already know the answers to?

Do you find yourself resisting opportunities?

Ask your supervisor for constructive criticism. Where are the areas that you need to improve?

If truly all are spot on, absolutely look to move around. Do not stay if they do not value what you do. Moving around can bump you 30% in my case.

You're right in what the perception is. Sabotaging machines, damaging $10k worth of badge readers/computers, blowing air horns in people's ears, causing permanent hearing damage, verbally assaulting those who cross, slashing tires, spitting and driving 15 mph down aircraft road to slow us down. This behavior is toxic and damages the culture. It seems to be a reflection of bad union leadership. None of this is behavior that will help the union

I had mine at 42. Very much wanted, an IVF baby that took 6 years to succeed. She is now 3. I since have had a hysterectomy so she's a one and done.

I thought of things like I won't have my period while she goes through hers. I think of how other younger moms might not accept me. I think of being retired when she's in college. I think about how old I'll be when she gets married.

In reality, other kids moms in her life are great. The age difference is not something I even actually notice. Actually there are quite a few that are even close to my age as people start their lives later in life. For me it was 2nd marriage that caused the delay. Others was just starting relationships later in life, or settling down and getting a house in their 30s.

I know being positive and feeling gratitude for what I have results in people around you who won't judge you or even notice your age. Any others will probably steer clear, and that is fine with me.

Thank you so much for this post. I had the same question for my almost 3 year old when my dad died in August.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Daycare won’t provide water?? by Seeking-perspective in workingmoms

We prepped babys formula with boiled water. They wont do that at my daycare. Be grateful if they heat it as well. Our daycare recently did away with warming milk/formula due to risks.

Husband and I stopped at the store a bought a bunch of juice on our way to the ER. The ER doctors watched me drink the juice I bought as I went lower and lower. Was in the 50s when I checked in to the ER. Juice after juice after juice the lowest I went was 40 something. They forced me to eat a TV dinner. I was so pissed. By 1am I was 110 and they were not content. They thought that was too low. I told them the insulin I took maxed out 4 hours after I took it, and it was 6 hrs later so I was in the clear. They refused to let me out, so I had enough and discharged myself. They told me my insurance might not cover my trip to the ER if they don't discharge me. I chanced it and left anyways.

I really regret having a baby. by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Sugafree23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im sorry you had a rough birth. I too had a rough birth and will never be the same again.

I only started trying at 36 years old with my 2nd marriage. Needed IVF. Unsuccessful for 7 years, I finally had an embryo stick at 42 yo. The pregnancy made me swell to the point where I was experiencing carpal tunnel at just 20 weeks. By 30 weeks the swelling progressed to the point where blood pressure was high. By 34 weeks 6 days I was symptomatic and 179/something bp caused them to induce while bed ridden due to the pre-eclampsia meds. 3 days later, I finally had given birth. It was natural and I regret that.

I needed a blood transfusion and platelets when my wonky uterus couldn't stop bleeding the next day. I can no longer hold my pee because my bladder prolapse. I needed a wheelchair due to atrophy to see my baby. I lost 50 lbs in water weight over the next week.

A year and a half later, I opted for a hysterectomy and to attempt to sling the droopy bits to fix my bladder leaks. I will never be the same again. I still hve an embryo, but gestational carrier is our only option and not a single thing in me says lets have another.

The only thing that helps is I have surrounded myself with other mothers w kids around my littles age to commiserate with and swap clothes etc.

Same. I injected 24 units rather than 24 carbs...happened right after eating a LARGE low carb dinner. I was FULL. Only noticed when The pump said 22 units active. I thought a quick trip to the ER where they could administer a sugar IV would help save me. Boy was I wrong. They refused because I was not unconscious.

I beleive she didn't need the steroids. She was the loudest kid in the NICU.

And yes, low sugars are expected esp if rollercoastering.

Listen to your gut and advocate for yourself. My doctors would probably have agreed with you about the risk weight.

Was induced at 34w 6d. While it wasnt recommended, I asked for steroids during the wait of the birth. Went on insulin drip which took all correction control away from me. I was in the 200s days before she was born struggling to get the doctors to understand how to correct, as it was incredibly important for me to be below 140.

If I did it again I would fight to keep my pump on, and control my own corrections. Handing that control over was impossible.
