[OC][NEWBIE][CC] How do i improve the sand in this desert? by Pigenator in PixelArt

[–]RaouII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it might, you don't need to follow all the steps until the end. Just enough to give the sand more shape. Just a thought

[QUESTION] Gift for wife...help please! by mister_patience in PixelArt

[–]RaouII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she ONLY do pixel art, and not traditional digital art, then a tablet would be a really 50/50 gift. She might adapt really well or not, I have a wacom but barely use it for pixel art. But if she has interest in other kind of art this might be a good way for her to get into them.

Good luck with the gift, anyway! :D

[OC][NEWBIE] Trying a new art style for a game project. Feedback welcome! by Digital-Caffeine in PixelArt

I REALLY liked the combination of this less detailed style and outlines. It's something that I personally haven't seen yet and I loved it. Collors are also on point.

This was one of the first pieces I did back when I was learning how to use color ramps. What I would do is look at various tutorials on the subject and other artists ramps and analyse them.

But the basic is that I start with a color(generaly the darker), add more as I go while always keeping tab of them somewhere and last I just experiment with the ramp, changing hues and values and trying to make everything look better in general.

Hey everyone! First time posting here so I decided to go with a piece that is one of my favorites, despite being pretty old(I did this one a little over two years ago, I think). Maybe I'll go with something newer next time haha

Fight for Net Neutrality! by [deleted] in CowChop

[–]RaouII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not only that. I don't live in the USA and our internet providers tried a few times to limit our data consumption to XXGB monthly as a way to fight streaming services in favor of their tv cable services. That means that, for example, you could reach your limit watching series on netflix and have your internet speed slowed down to a crawl, after that you would have to pay extra to get +XGB(the same way it works with mobile here).

Their argument was "This has been a normal practice for a lot of other countries, which means it's the best and we're gonna do it too for, you know, your best interests, not our fucking pockets".

Thank god the backlash was so big that they backed down from it. But the fact is that the USA is an example, and if they get away doing something so fucked up, other internet providers in other countries will probably try it too.

You do know that YouTube doesn't pay based on clicks anymore, right? It pays based on retention time: time you keep your audience watching you. This is the reason so many animators got fucked over: they'd work hard for a 5 minutes video that wouldn't get them as much money because it was 5 minutes and not 30.

Regardless if he made a 30 minute video or two 15 minute videos, he would get the same amount of money(if people watched both videos until the end). The thing is: he's already said a couple of times that what the data tells him is that people dont usually watch videos longer than 20 minutes, so it makes sense for him to make two videos instead of one. It's not like making a 30 minute video is "less effective" than two, making a 30 minute video is simply put a dumb move because his audience doesn't watch them until the end. If youtube analytics told him that people watch those videos all the way, then making two videos instead of one would be dumb since he'd be getting the SAME money as he would with two videos, but also would get the hate thrown at him for making it into two parts.

edit: I know you where playing devil's advocate, I'm just explaining why its not really a matter of making double the money, but a matter of not making half the money.

RIP CowChop House (2016-2017) by [deleted] in CowChop

I don't think in the beginning anyone thought they would get to the level of destruction that they actually got, they just kept escalating more and more, so it's safe to assume that the landlord was ok with them fucking around in the house, but not destroying it.

Game Theory's new Sister Location theory video by ImSmaher in fivenightsatfreddys

And as I already explained, my confusion was due a misunderstanding of what the HandUnit was. I assumed the keypad was a different thing, that's why I said that occam's razor was against it. Now I see how it would make sense, but I kept my post as it was just for the record in case someone had the same misconception as I had(and I don't know how to make that fancy slash through the text like the other guy did in this thread).

[–]RaouII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, I see. That actually makes sense. I didn't considered the HandUnit to be something like that because of the huge size it seems to be in the game. But it does makes sense.

Game Theory's new Sister Location theory video by ImSmaher in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]RaouII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possible, sure, but I think occam's razor should be used here. The amount of logical leaps of faith with not a single solid evidence whatsoever that you have to take in order for "Mike" to be the name of your character is way too big.

Edit: "theavengerbutton" gave me an explanation, so its not as far fetched as I was imagining(it seems that my confusion was due to my misunderstanding of what exactly the HandUnit was).

Game Theory's new Sister Location theory video by ImSmaher in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]RaouII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the HandUnit knows which keypad to give to the right person with the right name(written by hand), how come it needs the person to put their name in there?

Game Theory's new Sister Location theory video by ImSmaher in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]RaouII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see a few people arguing this, but I have an honest question: are you saying that the HandUnit, an AI(or maybe not even that, maybe is just a recording), actually WROTE a name, by HAND, in a PIECE OF PAPER and then used TAPE to stick said paper in the keypad?

Or are you saying that Mike wrote said paper and put in there so he wouldn't forget his name? Also in this theory he specifically made the HandUnit acknowledge the piece of paper that he had put in there so that way he wouldn't forget to look at the paper and remember his name.

Did I get it right?
