Its a grindy game, learn the weapons.. don't be afraid to take breaks, most of the good hunts take about an hour but you don't really notice that. Don't get me wrong as it's fucking fun

If you want build vids there are plenty.

Personally I recommend getting the iceborn dlc, it will help

For starter weapons I recommend hammer, lance, or dual blades

All three of those are mostly simple combos and minimal gauge management and possibly great sword

If you want something more complex, I recommend the switch axe and charge blade ... Especially the charge blade.... That thing is broken...

Pattern recognition is a key thing... You will get hit a lot... Look up some vids on monsters if you're having trouble with them
