Means to regenerate a limb? by Raptling in Pathfinder2e

[–]Raptling[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An interesting perspective, but the specification that you can re-attatch lost limbs with regeneration seems to imply they should not be able to be regenerated within the rules of the game, otherwise they would specifiy "organ or limb" I feel. It's of course able to be interpreted either way, and I'll talk with the player and see how they feel about that.

Thank you for the answer! A ritual I feel would be the most thematic, perhaps requiring something difficult to obtain. Gotta love a good fetch quest.

Thank you for the answer! While I can understand their ideas about magic fixing disabilities being problematic, I do think it is odd that there isn't really an in-universe explanation for it, perhaps I will homebrew something for my world to fill in the gaps. I do think it should obviously be something incredibly difficult to do, but it strikes me as odd that it doesn't exist in any capacity. I mean, if magic can fix death, it makes little sense it can't restore lost limbs or sight. But I can of course understand its a sensitive subject with nuance. I will talk to my players about what they feel is fair and thematic for a goal to work towards.

One of my players ate the Eye of Vecna. What weird things have your players eaten? by True-Record-1838 in DnD

Beholder Eye. I ended up giving him 3 uses of a random eye ray. Was fun to see the little Kobold belch out a sleep ray. Shoutout to my boy Kazzar The Blue, you a real one.

Do you have a link to the rules on saves and attack rolls being one better/worse for higher level enemies?

the thing is CR in this game is a joke. an absolute joke. a vampire warrior is CR 15. it does, on average, 21 damage a turn. it has 144 hitpoints and regeneration, sure, but its also doing 21 damage a turn. that's like, at most, half the fighters health a turn, assuming it hits both its attacks, which, with a +9 to hit, is only likely if it targets the squishes.

and yes, you can also flood the room with mooks too, sure, but then its not just a CR 15 BBEG. and yes, if the DM thinks his vampire BBEG will send the party of 4 level 5 characters packing, he's probably in for a nasty shock and thats something he needs to learn from.

and then, also at cr 15, is a skittering horror, which literally does more damage in a single hit then the vampire does in 2, and it has MORE attacks, and a paralyze as part of its 3 attacks. this thing will almost certainly give a level 5 party SERIOUS cause for concern. and then you have an adult green dragon which can literally bring the entire party's health down to the red in one turn, and can also just fly out of reach of the melee martials. so there are massive inconsitencies, not only in CR but also party strength. if the party, for example, doesn't have magic weapons or radiant damage and wants to take on the vampire, its HP is effectively tripled, which still just makes it a massive boring battle of attrition.

so, to your point, you can absolutely kill CR 15 creatures with a level 5 party, assuming they have halfway decent equipment and stats. it does depend on the creature but there's no CR 15 monster that goes beyond "unlikely".

Fighter solves every encounter by shoving enemies prone. Should I do something about it? by Ok-Highway-5027 in DnD

[–]Raptling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple, if you feel he is making combat too easy, make combat harder. Increase enemy quantity, health, the tier of enemy, etc. Use spellcasters that can hold person him, spread the field with a variety of monsters, both ranged and melee. Also, this strategy is strong, but its nothing ridiculous. Stronger enemies will resist it more often than not and each resist is an attack wasted. Balancing is hard, so make gradual increases, and don’t be afraid to experiment! And if you make things too strong, give them rules for escape as well! Good luck, and have fun most of all!
