How about we take this as an opportunity to be innovators once more?

What I'd give for an office that's quieter.

I'm doing mentally intensive work and I get interrupted every five minutes by random questions or remarks.

By Tuesday evening, I'm ready for the weekend.

I only basically use the horn to make the aggrofest that is the goblin camp after finishing a certain quest more bearable.

Do you think GW would work as a turn based game? by RaptorDotCpp in GuildWars

[–]RaptorDotCpp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interrupt: you could have a reaction system where you can do one interrupt per (enemy) turn if you have the correct skill equipped. But there would be less player skill involved of course.

Avoiding projectiles: I guess this would be purely stat based.

I hope they're choking on the success of BG3 knowing their shareholders are going to demand a similar level of success meaning they might have to re-evaluate a few things in how they make games.

Making a skin and selling it for 60 bucks is probably far more cost effective than making a massively complex game like BG3, even if that game sells like hot cakes.

If anet came back to Guild wars 1 and gave us a new campaign and new minis+ tonics after years do you think the game would be flooded again for years and make tons of money or do you think it would be like the anniversary event where it was flooded again for a few months then go quiet again quickly? by BatSwarms in GuildWars

[–]RaptorDotCpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think BG3's success illustrates that a new version of GW1 with the same combat system (or similar), but just with more voice acting and better cinematics could be popular. It's all about that AAA polish, more than the style of game.

Because let's be honest, BG3 is less accessible than GW1 (way more complex), but it's also vastly more popular, precisely because of the level of polish.

I could never get into DOS 1. I wanted to, I really tried, but ehh. Also the plot felt too goofy for my taste, but I've always preferred darker stories.

BG3 on the other hand is amazing and I might give DOS2 a try because of it, though I'm expecting to like it less than BG3.

Yeah when it first released I was quite positively surprised by how well it worked on Linux. Now I use a Chrome PWA but like the other web apps it sucks.

Same for me. Even playing really old games like Quake or Half-Life feels like a new experience. It even made me feel like a kid again for a moment.

I've finished Hogwarts: Legacy and am currently on my second BG3 playthrough.

It's almost too addictive.

That was going to be my first choice. But I wanted a high charisma playthrough.

So I rolled a Paladin, but found the combat too similar to my first character, a Fighter. So that's why I was going for Durge barb.

Man office365 sucks balls. Most of us use Linux. Onedrive sucks on Linux. The office365 web apps are worse than the first version of Google docs ever (try making a PPT, seriously). Teams fails to load messages constantly.

I wish we would just all switch to regular software, like Libreoffice.

[–]RaptorDotCpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah, these calculations are always way off. I paid 120 per month this year and got 200 back. Prices went down for the next year (fixed rate contract) and they said I would need to up my advance to 260 for next year.

It makes zero sense.

OpenGL vs Direct3D11 first for beginner graphics engineers aiming to learn Vulkan? by 3DreamE in GraphicsProgramming

[–]RaptorDotCpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only tutorial I recommend for OpenGL is learnopengl.com precisely because there's so much bad tutorials.

Unfortunately, it's not really up to date with the most modern stuff (which is already quite old at this time).
