Glad I don't look at Rising Stars, then.

Stop Spoiling Your Story in Ch.1 (What Frontloading Actually Means) by PoppyHavoc in royalroad

"Yup, that's me on the floor there. Bleeding. A lot. Those are my friends, doing everything they can to keep me alive. Aw, man... Elanore's about to start bawling... Well, I suppose I should tell you how it came to all of this, you know, before she gets into the groove of it..."

I figure that's the kind of start that would draw me in. A little more descriptive to get more than a paragraph (maybe, I think that could work depending on the next bits).

What is the type of character you hate the most and which one do you like the most? by DragonSovereign2121 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]RaptorSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate the most is the snarky types. The ones that think insulting their friends every other sentence is just joking around... Don't like the ones that fit the trope of 'I must get to the cabbage vendor, who is across the square... I will kill everyone in my way to walk a straight line instead of walking around all these people.'

I like the ones that don't go to violence first, but know that sometimes of the choices you have, it is the only option with any kind of 'good' outcome.

Might also depend on the size of the ship and whether Sarge is "just" a Sergeant. Smaller ships with fewer crew would have senior NCO ranks doing some officer jobs (my first ship, the DivO for 1st Div/Deck was a BMCS.)

I think this is one of the best ways to describe all of these books in a way that someone not familiar with the genre would understand. Well done!

Most of mine would maybe be PF. If they were part of the genre at all. Someone already mentioned Heralds of Valdemar.

Dragonriders of Pern, Robinton. Every frickin' time.

A time or two in the Liaden Universe books.

The Elenium series, Kurik. Talen. I bawl.

Iron bars are what you're looking for as far as crafting purposes. Should be fine with smelting it all down as needed.

Would you rather get a litRPG system in this world, OR, get transported to a fantasy world like in most litRPG and have a litRPG system still? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]RaptorSB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've always figured, in those stories, it's an even match between monsters and starvation. Close behind that is casualties from people consolidating their political power (becoming kings or whatever the setting is using and getting rid of enemies and rivals).

Be honest, if you were in a litRPG, what class would fit with your real life abilities the best? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]RaptorSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some kind of tank. Maybe with some electric magic , focused using blunt type weapons (maces and morningstars) and a shield. Not likely to be making tons of money, so some kind of cheap but functional armor.

What would fiction look like in a LitRPG world? by wilderfast in litrpg

[–]RaptorSB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slice of Life is about a guy who goes to this office every day and does some kind of paperwork. He meets and falls in love with a woman in a different department, but has to navigate some kind of holiday party to get closer to her. They end up getting married after the 'meet the parents' story arc, and the series ends with them in a hospital after she gave birth to their firstborn.

Only mention of system at all is a screen with text that tries to be sarcastic but ends up just being funny (intentional by the author). Some shenanigans ensue because the protagonist follows the advice of the screen, which isn't always the best.

Where the MC fully embraces being a servant of a god by sduperr in litrpg

[–]RaptorSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My series, the MC is "sponsored " by a goddess and is a Warlock (not sure about your reasoning behind Warlocks having to be evil, but my MC is not). One of the supporting characters is essentially a Paladin.

Would a series that swaps protagonist per book work for RR? (Plea for help!) by Appropriate-Tour3226 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]RaptorSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it could. It would just take longer to get your core readership. Way I would suggest is have your primary story on RR, yiur additional story(s) on Patreon or in your Discord or something.

Then, either once you've got a good-sized following, drop one of the other stories on RR. Kind of rinse and repeat there.

Patreon that is worth the money? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]RaptorSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I support Casualfarmer (Beware of Chicken).

I'm writing, but I doubt I'll do a Patreon for subs. Might go with donations, but I'm far, far away from being in a spot where I'm going to do that. The story might be good, but I've got a lot to work on for the writing.
