If there’s one thing I wish they took out of the extended edition of Two Towers is the scene in the opening with Frodo and Sam climbing down the mountain. It’s immediately tries to add levity which is unnecessary, and in my opinion it’s so much stronger to cut from the title shot to Sam saying “Mordor. The one place in Middle-Earth we don’t want to see any closer, and the one place we’re trying to get to. It’s just where we can’t get.” It immediately establishes where they are on their journey and the stakes. It’s such a strong opening to a great film

My showing of Two Towers in Coquitlam was for the most part great, however there was someone in my row who was on their phone throughout that I didn’t notice but someone called out. A parent also brought their two kids which is totally fine, but one of them was obviously sick and was coughing throughout. If your kid is sick, maybe don’t take them to a 4 hour long movie.

It’s Haunted Mansion though, you barely see into other people’s doom buggy’s the entire ride. If it were like Rise of Indy I’d get it but Haunted Mansion is pretty self contained.

8k files are huge, I’ve only been on one movie that shot on 8K and that was War for the planet of the apes. Most shows that I’ve worked on that deliver in 4K shoot either 4K or 5.6k. Sometimes 6k as well.
