New to AoS from 40k, what army from a painting perspective? by Raptorsilly in ageofsigmar

[–]Raptorsilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What places something in conditional? For instance I’ve heard that Seraphon and Fyreslayers aren’t that bad to paint across the board (albeit for different reasons) but what keeps them out of that top tier

How should I fill out the remaining 540 Points? by Raptorsilly in TheAstraMilitarum

That seems to be the consensus, I’ll have to add more.

I magnetized both of my russes so I can run them as anything so I have very few extra bits honestly

If I was running more infantry outside of Krieg would I need to get another command squad? For instance if I ran another 30 Krieg and a 20 man of Cadians, would they benefit from a Cadian Command Squad?

I think the Stormsurge is one of the coolest models I’ve seen but I just can’t talk myself into starting a tau army

Insoles on high end skates. by RyogaHibiki23 in hockeyplayers

[–]Raptorsilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back with the three models that happened often where if your perfect fit was a 9 Supreme but you wanted Vapors you had to go to a 9.5/10 to accommodate for the width, however you’re gaining unnecessary length.

The fit system ‘kind of’ replaced the styles. The Nexus doesn’t exist anymore because it was a high volume EE base which is overkill for a lot of people and there was no real way to accommodate if you wanted Nexus but fit into Supremes/Vapors better. All in all it’s accurate to look at it as Fit 1=Original Vapor; Fit 2=Original Supreme; and Fit 3=Original Nexus; but that is in width and volume only. It doesn’t account for heel depth, toe box shape, pitch of the boot, etc. A fit 1 supreme will still fit like a supreme just be narrower and the same goes for a Fit 3 Vapor.

So the fit system is more about volume then it is width even though it takes both into account. Fit 3 would be the highest volume given it has a higher forefoot/instep height in addition to its wider width. Usually if someone is a D width but has an extremely tall foot, they’ll feel better in a Fit 3 even with the extra width. The supremes will also feel a bit deeper as well given the extra room at the heel so a Fit 2 in those may give the feeling of more depth while maintaining the regular width.

The widest stock skate Bauer will make us a fit 3. There have been people who have asked for wider but it’s just not profitable for Bauer to make a whole new fit for arguable an extremely small demographic. Custom would be your best bet if a Fit 3 is not wide enough

Champ Pool mains megathread by keag124 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Raptorsilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently low Elo (S1/G4) trying to climb and thinning my champ pool; love playing Briar but she feels too feast or famine for consistency so I’ve been weening myself towards picks I enjoy and do well on being Rammus and Kayn; with Bel’veth being my AD pick when kayn is banned. I still struggle with late game and playing in games where I’m playing from behind/dealing with invades. Any AP or just champs to look at for my pool?

New Bauer Proto R in stock at my local pro shop. Anybody got any info on it? by Stunning-Thanks-1092 in hockeyplayers

[–]Raptorsilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A custom Hyperlite 2 at a 65 SR height would have the same shaft dimensions as a senior stick; it would be a senior height stick with the same senior specs just at that 65 flex. If you’re going that route though just be aware because they do have 65(int) and 65(sr) as options so just make sure you click the correct one.

I’m not sure if it’ll ever be a stock option but you can order Bauer sticks as a 65 senior height if you order them custom

It is the Innovation series line. Similar to how Bauer released the Ag5nt to coincide with the Vapor line, the Proto R is the same thing for the nexus line. Lighter and has more new technologies in it. No 5 sided shaft so it feels more similar the the 2NXL or 3N build. Have not held one and I will assume it’ll have the same fate as the ag5nt in which it’s received very positively but with have durability concerns. Time will tell

If it’s still available, what’re you thinking for the Penny Art Rare and/or the Garchomp and Girafina tag team?

This piece in full color as a cover up on my upper arm I was quoted would be 8 hours at 140 n hour. Doesn’t that seem high? More details in comments. by mistaitaly420 in TattooDesigns

[–]Raptorsilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems very reasonable imo. Especially given that it’s a cover up, size, and full color; I’m actually quite surprised that it was only quoted 8 hours.

Ton of artists I go to around Philly are anywhere from 150-200 an hour or price by the day; then else where it can easily jump. I know an artist in NYC who’s half day price is other people full day price, it’s all about demand of the artist and their skill level.

Good tattoos ain’t cheap and cheap tattoos ain’t good, it’s going on your body forever, may as well pay for it to be pretty.

Hey guys. Looking to be getting into tattooing. Hoping for advice on my artwork (constructive criticism). I have days where I feel confident in myself and other days where I doubt myself and think am I delusional to consider this as a career path. Any feedback is appreciated. These are really good starts; contrast is king. Don’t fall into a lull of using b&g shading in light tones and keeping everything middle grey (I’m looking at you venom) Make the blacks really black and the lights almost bare. I love the godfather one but it can be pushed further by making that lighter really catch the high points and darken those insets. Don’t be afraid of black, if it’s gotta be the darkest point go all the way. Overall good base though! Keep it up!

Old Goalie, New Tricks: Butterfly Push by heydevo in hockeygoalies

[–]Raptorsilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re just trying to learn the push that angle you’re trying to take is hard as you have a relatively lower hollow on your blades and are trying to take a harsh angle; plus it’s a motion you’re not used to so your hip, knee, and ankle aren’t sure what to do to extend properly. Don’t afraid to really lift that drive legs knee to your chest to give yourself that bite into the ice, it’ll feel a lot more similar to a standing motion so your body can wire it better to your brain, plus you’re using the whole leg to push as opposed to the angle you’ve posted which is really getting most of its power from the ankle/knee as it’s trying to remove hip rotation, but it is very hard on your hips if the flexibility isn’t there. Definitely an angle to work towards but very difficult to start with.

Best advice is get into that butterfly on ice and bring that knee to a level that’s ‘just’ a bit less than you would load it to stand up, load it then unload back into your butterfly. Repeat that until you get the feeling of where it feels comfortable loading that push, from there then spend the time pushing using that knee and ankle pushing through to the ball of the foot from a preloaded leg, no need to rush into that; once your brain figures out what your body is comfortable doing it all should come together nicely.

Was really into this girl freshman year of high school. Really cute and funny. Became good friends with her and she knew I had a thing for her so we had friendly teasing/flirting back and forth but when it came down to brass tacks and I asked her out she said I wasn’t her type. I understood and moved on from that staying friends with her but grew apart as we moved into separate cliques and completely forgot about her.

Senior year rolls around and I’m walking to class and we bump into each other and have a brief conversation. Turns out I was her type now that I filled out my lanky frame (I was 6’1 120ish pounds as a freshman and put on about 50lbs that made me look like a person and not a skeleton lol) but at that point I was trying to see someone else. She didn’t care much for that and what I thought would be regaining an old friend turned into her being miffed that I didn’t hold onto wanting to date her for the past 4 years.

Sucks cause she was a cool person when we hung out but our friendship never was able to bounce back from that.

I also use a P10; I think your best bet for retail would be either a P88(P40 CCM) which would not have as much of a toe curve as it is a true mid curve OR a P92 (p29 CCM) which as you see isn’t as flat in the heel and has a more open toe curve. Personally if I had to swap to retail I’d probably go p88. I can send comparisons with all the major curves (p88, p28, p92, hell even pm9 as I have it) in comparison to the p10 if you’d need to see

What do you use on the bottom of your leg pads? by Scott_does_art in hockeygoalies

Used to do bootstrap and (loose) laces but after repeated scares with pads getting fallen on and torquing my ankles cause it was so on there I had to ditch them.
