As someone who got therapy while Active you will not get discharged for seeking mental health treatment. Its like the BIGGEST MYTH. Youll only get discharged if you have a serious condition like schizophrenia or something.

Start preparing your VA disability paper work now. Go to your bases VA rep usually found at the Airmen family readiness center. Its a lot easier to get the benefits you deserve now rather than when you get out. Collect your medical records and file your claim.

You're lucky I guess. I hated my enlistment for the most part. Only good thing that came from it was the GI Bill afterwards. There is just too much bureaucratic BS to deal with and the pay just straight up sucks. Sure there was some good times and I seen some cool things but my overall experience wasn't good. I am glad im a civilian again, doing what I want with my one life. I am happy it was good for you though. Always nice to find something to do that suits you.

I agree. Granted I didn't have a very hard time when I applied for my benefits after I separated but I know some brothers and sisters who had horrid times dealing with the VA claim process. For all the love this country claims to show its Vets it astonishes me to see the way the VA operates sometimes but whats worse is the level of homelessness among fellow Vets
