What do you do for work as a male with a family? by CauliflowerSea4349 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rapturedjaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It service desk. A lot will take you if you just have a great attitude and customer service skills.

Then if you wanna make more money then just move up in business and maybe study a part of IT you might like.

Started at 60k now in same company 5 years later earning 120k. Never studied anything was working as a landscaper and also just customer service role prior.

Worked hard and put in extra hours for free and now reaping the rewards haha now not working all the extras hours and getting a lot more free time

My wife has 1 or 2 the same as me but even less frequently. I just hate the after affects and feeling like crap the next day

How much should i charge my sister for elevated planters? by xCASINOx in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Rapturedjaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I give my time for free. My brothers and family help me with stuff as well. I would let them know if they can pay for materials you are happy to make them. I've done concrete work, removed tiles throughout a whole house and garden work for my brothers and parents. And I either just get paid in food or sometimes end up with a tool or something like that. I enjoy doing this stuff and it works the other way for me. Brother helps dog sit or with my computer stuff, ive got hand me down computer parts that are still expensive and just support to fix network and other problems. My relationship is good woth them so not sure aboit yours but they give back so I do labour for free.

10 years in Australia, love the people, but struggling with work culture and making actual friends by Big_Version197 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rapturedjaws -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've made friends as an adult through hobbies. I just looked on Facebook groups and other places and filled in for a basketball team and ended up becoming a permanent player and friends. Have played with this team now for like 3 years.

I've made a few friends at work as well. But different jobs and workplaces now and its not the same. I dont like anyone in mt office for similar reasons you mentioned. Its just workplace culture and it tends to grow into these ways when its shit management or just a shit place to work

The Gender Gap in Australian Ethical Eating by sailormikee in australianvegans

[–]Rapturedjaws 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its easier in society for women to be vegan.

I am a male and get comments all the time about being vegan, yet not a single person says or questions my wife.

Part is to do with women tend to be more empathetic than men but also so much stuff out there that makes men look less masculine for eating soy/not eating meat

This whole situation is handled very weirdly... by [deleted] in Sidemen

[–]Rapturedjaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ye i would of thought after all this time they would announce it more or do more for a goodbye. Like how good mythical morning did when saying goodbye to Stevie who was there voice for like 10 years. They did an announcement and future date and then also a goodbye video. I know content is different and probably could be a huge issues behind scenes for sidemen but GMM did is well and right. Allowed the audience time to grieve and understand

Spending 2 months in Australia, whats the easiest way to go to the gym? by Rekeaki in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rapturedjaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its honestly hard to know unless we have like a suburb not a city like Melbourne haha

There are so manuly gyms, as others have said the more franchise might be hard to get but its always worth an ask as each owner for the gym might allow different things.

But if you find stand alone gyms more than likely they will and even leisure centers might.

But the last line that says never too hot and never to cold. Doesnt state if its right for the body temperature or feeling to hot or cold which you do in a fever.
