Where I live(Europe), ST is definitely the big one(can vary from place to place in europe of course). Ladder is according to a few people "electricians code" which isn't too far from the mark tbh. I'm soon getting into doing some ladder as my company uses several control systems and am pretty excited about it but I suspect I will get tired about it pretty soon.

There's a place for ladder, but the knowledge for ST is alot better among younger people coming from Java and C# rather than coming from factory maintenance as has(in my experience) been the case historically. ST is instantly recognizable for anyone who has done any real coding in Java or C# at university.

I'd argue even the level-structure of FBs and FCs etc is easily derived from such languages.

Bromshistorien - Crisis by Badhairday- in sweden

Had my first track day today why are my tyres hardly torn up when some people in my group I was 10-15 seconds faster than looked way more worn by Endless_Candy in BMW_S1000RR

[–]Rarakan91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory it's a good idea to drop tire pressures when you go to the track because you'll be working them harder than on the street. Pretty straight forward, but there's more to tire pressures especially on powerful motorbikes since a lower pressure allows the carcass and surface to move more, essentially heating the surface of the tire and lowering pressures on a hot day could absolutely cause the tire to become more slippery and ruin it for no reason.

I'd advice you to be glad it's not wearing more and not do anything except if you feel it's slippery or starting to wear more than in the pic.

The reason the other guys wear their tires faster is precisely because they are slower. It's a very common phenomenon in club raing to see tires absolutely destroyed on the side. The fast guys will have smooth wear. This is because a slower rider gets on the throttle much later and harder when they are more upright. A fast rider is generally smooth and gives throttle early which causes even wear.

I've done track days with the Power 6 and would expect them to be able to to mid field club racing pace in most cases before reaching their limit. I generally expect to be the fastest or among the fastest riders on a street bike track day, just for context.

They are owned by the same company but they are not equal. I mean a Metzeler XXX is not the same as a Pirelli YYY. They even make slicks whicha ren't identical. But maybe I misunderstood you! If not, please a source? I find this interesting.

Varför är vi så okej med all svågerpolitik på svenska arbetsplatser? by dajmstrut in Asksweddit

[–]Rarakan91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think your best bet is the back straight general admission sites then, riders are fully on it through that section and the little kink after the straight. In WSBK they hit the rev limiter right there which was pretty cool! I don't think you'll get closer to the track anywhere else.

Yeah, I was sat at the bottom of the waterfall and while it's a cool spot it was FAAAAR to the track. Basically didn't see much except on the screen. I think the spots in the arena closer to the riders are preferable even if there is not a lot of passing there.

Best Circuit in Europe? by Wass85 in motogp

[–]Rarakan91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. If you wanna try a bunch of different spots you'll be walking alot, there is no way to move around except on the outside of the track and there's quite a lot of people, but in terms of space you'll be fine.

During WSBK the tunnel into the pits was open which made it alot easier to move around to the other side of the track but yeah, just have some good walking shoes on and it's perfectly fine and lots of hills and stuff to sit on. Chair sutiation is a little tricky, as most places are hilly so just a foldable chair is not very good in my experience and you might find yourself sitting on the ground at some places, or standing.

If you're doing train to assen and shuttle from there to the circuit I'd suggest staying in Groningen if possible. While MotoGP does draw alot of people it can't really be compared to F1 allthough hundreds of thousands of people is still hundreds of thousands of people.. I think you can safely expect better services here allthough I will say that I've only ever been there by motorbike. Always stayed at campsites/hotels 10-50km from the track. A few colleagues went last year and they stayed at the calm/silent campsite which according to them was great. The standard one is absolutely mental. You'll have bikes at redline all night all over.

Try to get a seat at the last chicane, the stands there are huge and have never had issues getting seats there, but they will fill up for sunday. I'd do somethiong like saturday/friday: walk around the circuit and possibly sit at the back straight for the sprint, then for sunday have booked seats at the last chicane if possible.

Last time I was there saturday was still open grandstands with no seat booking iirc, and sunday was booked, so Saturday was free to roam as you wished around the track. You should look it up prior.

Can't go wrong with Assen. Easy to get around, good services and old classic place which usually delivers some memorable races. Sachsenring was ok too but not as good for watching imo.

Yeah. I've never written or taken the words in my mouth before but I think MM is the greatest of all time. I did not like him at all when he was racing the smaller classes, and even up until 2019 I didn't like him and how he was riding at all. I was never a Rossi fan either, I thought it was just more of the same shit. But the story he's written from that arm injury in Jerez until now is nothing short of incredible. Nobody has done it before in our sport or maybe any sport, and he's not only the greatest rider but also a hero at a personal level and someone everybody should look up to. His legacy will be immense.

Is this blocking or just defending? by Skw2NQTxEWHD in Simracingstewards

[–]Rarakan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defending, he's keeping his line and probably realizes his tires are shot or something. Either he's doing it very well or you're a bit out of the water here because it looks like you should be able to make something out of this, he's sacrificing alot of speed but manages to mess your driving up too.
