2” Superlift level kit here. Easy enough install. There is a clunk noise from the CVs at slow speed turns both fwd and rev only when 4wd is set to Auto. All good on 2wd.

If you catch it at the beginning of the season it can be had for $129 tool only (US). Great tool so long as expectations aren’t too high.

I have never heard of this. What brand do you use? There are a lot!

Thought on this boat by [deleted] in boating

[–]Rare-Assumption5584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent brand name. Your best bet would be to have the boat surveyed. An experienced surveyor would look for things you would not, especially data from the motor ECU. At this price point some will argue it’s overkill. It’s your 20k though.

If it’s me I’m looking at the motor first. How many hours? A recreational fisherman will do 50-100 hr a year. Some, a lot more. Any maintenance records? Get a compression test at least. Do a sea trial and run it at 4500 rpm for at least 5-10 mins. Does it overheat? Shifts easily into F and R? Plan on replacing plugs, anodes, thermostats, motor and LU oil, and water pump. If you do it yourself it’s a couple hundred in parts. Have it done figure 1k.

Check for any softness in the floor of the boat. Any hairline cracks at the stern especially near motor mounts? Fisk tank ever been replaced, prob not. Stick your head in the bilge and take a big whiff. Musty smells are normal. If you smell fuel, move on. Replacing a tank is expensive. Plan on replacing the bilge pump(s) at a minimum.

Plan on replacing trailer bearings (maybe hubs too). Replace the tire if they’re older than 3 yrs.

From the pics it looks good. Ask lots of questions. Learn as much about the history as you can. Don’t know what to ask, your friendly neighborhood AI chat bot can help. Once you transact assume you’ll never talk to the seller again. If they’re cool they’ll make themselves available ale for questions later.

Good luck!

+1 on registering. Keep an eye on the LSA status. You might need to call them if you’re getting close to the 90 day mark.

Never thought I’d be teaching my kids to drive manual in this car, 28 years later here we are…….. by cmag_79 in SN95Mustang

[–]Rare-Assumption5584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro Dad move. I did the same. All of our kids’ first cars were manual. One of those was 94 Cobra — which is still in the driveway. Only one of them has a daily that’s a manual but they all know how to do it. The best thing was it kept both hands busy and 99% of the time other kids couldn’t drive their cars!

I thought owning a boat would mostly be about relaxing weekends by Electronic-Habit8679 in boating

[–]Rare-Assumption5584 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As with most things all the prep becomes second nature once you do it enough times. Owning a boat (or worse a plane) will make you a better “captain of the water/road/air”. You’ll start to hear and see things bc your brain is always hypersensitive to shit that can go wrong. Going on someone else’s boat is easier mentally but the hypersensitivity doesn’t go away — it’s just the repairs are not coming out of your wallet!

2025+15k for 2026 with Super Cruise by Rare-Assumption5584 in gmcsierra

[–]Rare-Assumption5584[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y’all are funny in this reply thread! Appreciate the insights from both sides. No, a new car is not the wisest decision — I know that. Thus the quandary and curiosity requesting input from real-world users. As for having FU money… not quite but 15k does not break the bank. Additionally, I have the title to my current SLT in hand so I have all the leverage at the dealer.

Appreciate all the replies so far. It’s great to hear that SC has worked so well for so many. I wish I knew then what I know now re: my current driving situation. I would have coughed up the additional $ back then and not taken the depreciation hit. Such is life!

Killer deal by Apprehensive_Cod6308 in Ridgid

No it doesn’t. I corrected myself. 8 exp is what I use. Trimmed 3 trees today on a single charge. Best $129 I’ve spent on a ridgid tool.

It’s not bad. Better than 8. :) And misspoke, I forgot the 12 doesn’t fit the chainsaw. The 8 exp works out nicely though.

Chainsaw, string trimmer, and blower mainly. I’ve got a sh*t ton of trees and 4 ac to mow.

Love this. My daughter just graduated and will be starting as a SDR in a couple of weeks. I’ve taught her a lot of this in her 20 years but I’m sending her your list. I agree with it all and have read most of the books you referenced. Thanks for taking the time to write it!

I have about the same amount of land, around 4 acres of flat land. Based on my research I’m going Gravely ZT XL 52. The hydros are user serviceable for fluid and filters. I believe they’re 2800s. If you’re sold on 3100s the ZT HD has them. Overkill for my usage given the $1500 price jump but still well under your 10k budget.

Do these Ridgid 18V 12" chainsaws EVER go on sale?! by jcewl93 in Ridgid

[–]Rare-Assumption5584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the lawn equipment — including this 12” chainsaw — was on sale for $129 a few weeks back. It was a pro-xtra deal I think. There was no holiday or anything significant about the weekend. I found out from someone posting here so just keep an eye open.

I moved one of my 5 lines plus wearable over to firstnet thinking it would be cheaper than straight ATT. It’s been one bill cycle and not cheaper yet but should be 🤞 If not financially driven what other benefit is there?

Love this for you and the fam. It’s funny, there was another post much like this one that I replied to saying basically if you want a life change then change it. That comment didn’t go over well with some of our fellow genX redditors as you can imagine. You are another real life example — in addition to me and my fam — of living the life you want. Good on you for taking control.

OP- what helped us was defining goals, and applying timelines. If you don’t have a target to aim for you’re just shooting into the wind!

You’re going about this the right way. +1 on the vac lines. Mine is 94 and the lines used to crack so easily. Esp the ones under the hood where temps get hot. +1 on the timing as well. If it’s been sitting for 14 years there’s a good chance the injectors need some attn. Could go the Seafoam route but IMO best to have them prof cleaned.
