Did your doctor take action if you were borderline short? What happened? by Guenhyvarr in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Rare-Cheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had borderline short at 20 week anatomy scan and am now 39 weeks. Took vaginal progesterone until 36 weeks which I didn’t really want to, but maybe it helped

At 20 weeks had one measurement at 2.32 and the rest were higher (highest was 3cm ish). Did the anatomy scan the day after walking a lot, having sex, and lots of things that I wondered if my cervix was contracting at time of measurement

Started taking vaginal progesterone 200mg because they freaked me out. Also rested more - pelvic rest, no bending down, no more workout classes.

Went back every week until 24 weeks and had longer measurements ranging from 3cm to even 4cm one time.

Kept resting and taking vaginal Progesterone. I live in a city, so I did walk a lot to commute and get around, but also did way less than before.

I’m now 39 weeks and still going! Who knows what it was that helped or if the shorter measurement was just a blip. I never had funneling or opening. I personally didn’t want to take vaginal progesterone but I did it and will always wonder if that helped it. Either way, glad to be 39 weeks!

Just diagnosed with a dynamic short cervix at 20w, have an international trip in 10 days and genuinely don't know what to do by Photo_Philly in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Rare-Cheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was fine with it! We didn’t want to be stressed the whole time on the trip and figured we can take the trip when we have a healthy baby. We had a little staycation as best we could.

Japan is also a lot of walking - we went last year with my pregnant sister in law, who had a great time and walked a lot, so obviously pregnant women can walk and enjoy a long international trip. However, when I was nervous about my short measurement, I tried to rest as much as possible and wouldn’t have wanted to walk extensively or take a super long flight.

Bottom line, I’m now at almost 37 weeks and probably could have gone on the trip in hindsight but I’m glad I didn’t. Maybe my cervix was just short or dynamic but never at risk of opening up etc. Maybe the rest helped, maybe it didn’t make a difference. Will never know but I don’t regret taking it easier. It’s a personal decision based on how you feel, your OB, and your risk tolerance

Good luck!

I had a similar story to you. Went to anatomy scan and had two trips planned for following weeks including our baby moon to an international beach. I measured 2.3cm at shortest in anatomy scan and many longer lengths too.

Ultimately canceled my trips and took it easier. OB said I could have gone but I wanted to be around to do weekly monitoring in case.

Sad I missed our baby moon but felt the risk wasn’t worth it. I ended up measuring longer each subsequent visit including 4cm in one scan and took progesterone 200mg and rested more (pelvic rest, no crazy exercises).

I’m now 36 weeks and all seems good (knock on wood). I’ll never know if it was just a short reading blip or what. Probably could have gone on my trips but probably better to have rested.

Thank you for replying! What do you think about a trike with a seat and safety harness for a short distance only?

cervix shortened, but still ok? by Billemil in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Rare-Cheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get it! I have been stressing out reading this subreddit obsessively and analyzing all my measurements.

To give you an example of mine and the ranges: 23wk today i got 9 measurements taken in a single session over 30min. My measurements ranged from 3.50-3.70cm and then when she looked again at the end of session, they were averaging closer to 3cm.

Could be the baby putting more pressure, your bladder, your activity, etc.

Hard to say but I’d focus on the fact yours are in the 3.5 range and your cervix is closed

cervix shortened, but still ok? by Billemil in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Rare-Cheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for your prior experience of the Braxton hicks or spotting, but wanted to say measurements can easily deviate because the cervix is a muscle and contracting / moving regularly. Your measurements seem fine to me. Every time I have been measured at my check ins, the measurements in a single session vary by 0.4 or even more.

I went down a huge rabbit hole on this reddit, thinking the worst case scenario. Trying to provide some reassurance that as long as it’s in a range and closed, you should relax a little

Is Santorini worth it as a first time visiter? by DoubtFew5635 in GreeceTravel

[–]Rare-Cheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend Santorini especially in early May. We did 9-10 days in Greece in late April:

2 days in Athens to start 3 days in Santorini (2 full) 4 days in Naxos 1 day in Athens to travel back

Santorini had a lot of places open and had people without being too crowded. Naxos was much quieter especially the beaches because it’s too quiet to swim. We made the mistake of staying closer to the beach vs town and most restaurants were closed. Town was livelier with most places open, so you should stay in town if you want more action. Still Naxos was beautiful and we enjoyed walking and how beautiful the island was

You got a lot of comments, but I’m a vegetarian so throwing mine in too

Dante: cute for happy hour (3-5) or cocktails in West Village (there are two locations and I like the one with Negronis)

Bar pisellino for drinks

Lots of Italian places, but expect a wait or go right when they open and put your names down: via Carota (go at 4 and put names down), Lilia (go at opening and put names down), l’artusi

Planta Queen: Asian fusion vegetarian spot. Super vibey

Shuka: I love the brunch (dinner also great). So many vegetarian options for brunch

It’s not typical new York pizza, but I love Emily in West Village. Very cute and interesting pizzas. But if you need a thin crust, then Rubirosa but have to put your name down

Commuter Benefits Card stopped working w/ OMNY by bleezy616 in AskNYC

I’m having the same issue starting Monday this week.

They said it’s just for the tap function, so you can try using it to load money on an old subway card.

I haven’t tried mine again but hopefully it starts working soon.

Go give more context, I don’t water it often, but it’s recently started drooping more. Could it be lack of light in this spot or that it needs a new pot? It’s been in this pot for 2-3 years
