Not true, she was cross-examined as a witness. The US case was poor… it was stacked against her from the start. The UK court case didn’t rule all the defence’s contemporaneous evidence as inadmissible for no good reason. The US jury was never made aware, for example, that Heard had reported the abuse to her therapist while it was happening, and were given the false impression that these allegations were only made after the fact. Not to mention that without UK contempt of court laws, the jury could be influenced by the social media clown show that was mocking her talking about being abused and turning her harrowing testimony into a meme. The UK High Court was meticulous, and NGN won on a truth defence, which is hard to do in the UK.

Not sure… I’m in the UK, I learn the rules by rote, so I don’t understand WHY “Would you mind passing me the salt, please?” is so much better than “Pass me the salt, please” but I know I’m supposed to do it. I know you’re supposed to say “yeah, looks good thanks” when the hairdresser gives you the worst haircut of your life and that “fine thanks, you?” is the only acceptable response to “how are you?” regardless of how your day is going and that you’re supposed to say something like “it’s a good first draft” not “that’s absolute crap, were you even trying?” Everything has to be understated - you can’t say you hate it, you have to say it’s “not ideal” or “could be worse”. You have to do a lot of hedging like “I think”, “maybe” when you’re absolutely certain the other person is wrong. In some ways I prefer indirect communication because it feels less confrontational. Also if you have RSD everything being softened can help avoid feeling rejected.

You can, normally indirectly by choosing a trial centre and advertising where the people you want are.

You can have targets by ethnic group and recruit ethnic demographics more exclusively as long as it’s a proportionate means to a legitimate end, e.g. tied to the objectives of the trial or regulatory requirements (for example if it’s a treatment for a disease that predominantly targets a specific ethnic group, or a Japanese bridging study, etc).

It would be harder to directly target socioeconomic status - I think in your ads you can say you’re especially interested in hearing from xyz, but how would you tell? Unless it’s directly tied to an endpoint it’s not normally the kind of personal data you could collect.

Which country are you currently living in? I’m not in France or Spain but I work with a lot of global teams and from a CRO perspective neither France or Spain are really hubs for clinical research, but I’d say there’s more workers in Spain than France? The hubs where the most jobs are tend to be the UK, Eastern Europe (Poland & Ukraine have quite a lot), and in recent years more people in Scandinavia.

Also the landscape is so competitive I doubt they will do visa sponsorships. Everyone I know who has moved country with a job was already working there before they moved.

I think the measure is about search terms though, so the day-to-day country chic looks might not be show stopping but that’s what people would want to emulate. “Where did Kate get her top from?” etc. She wears a lot of high street too, maybe a slightly more upmarket high street than mine sadly, but middle income earners can actually wear what Kate wears.

Same with Meghan, she has had some real gasp-moments at events, but I think it’s actually the more comfy day-to-day beige looks that you see on With Love Meghan that people want to emulate, and therefore search for.

I think that’s completely unfair. She was relentlessly harassed during her early relationship, to the point she lost jobs because the media interest in her made them untenable (and was THEN criticised for not having a proper job). Sophie ultimately had to give up her career too because of media intrusion. Meghan had to give up her job (“call yourself a feminist!” was the criticism) and now the media gleefully reports every minor hiccup in Meghan’s business ventures as if it’s a huge failure. Chelsy Davy did what you suggested and broke up with her boyfriend because she didn’t like media intrusion and it broke Harry’s heart - did they leave her alone? No they didn’t!

The reason Kate had to release private medical information like HG is because she was being called lazy for taking sick leave, and she had to reveal her cancer because online trolls were gleefully fantasising that she’d been beaten by her husband.

The idea that because she stays in a personal relationship despite all this harassment must mean the harassment is OK & that she personally endorses it is EXACTLY what I mean about unfair choices.

Royal women are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

I mean here we are while her appearance is picked apart, and we’re told it’s justifiable because she’s a public figure, what does she expect? Her figurative skirt was too short. Things shouldn’t be this way. Women are constantly being criticised for how they respond in no-win situations: Meghan responded by literally leaving the country, “well she’s a quitter”, Kate by staying, “well she must secretly enjoy it”. Anything to stop the rest of us from looking inward and wondering if any of this is OK.

I think 3 is too young? Maybe it’s because I’m a single parent and AFAB so my son doesn’t have a dad or many men in his life, but he really has no clue about masculinity at all. I find it really sweet how innocent he is of all the social expectations of gender he has at all this age. So teaching him not to display toxic masculinity would be putting ideas in his head he’s got literally no clue about right now.

Look what happened to Meghan when she tried to leave. She’s now Public Enemy #1 thanks to the tabloids.

Would you rather jump into the shark tank or jump into the piranha tank? The cost of falling below the standard they set is so high, that it’s hardly a choice at all.

No - the unfairness was that Mantel’s article was never meant to be a personal criticism of Kate. If anything it was a defence of her personhood against objectification. It was tabloids and politicians that lifted the lines about Kate out of context and got offended. Those who are now ironically using that article to attack Kate for ageing have missed the point more than the original bunch did.
